What do you do when the one you least expect to matter…

Ends up mattering the most?

Derek Pearson likes to think he’s an easygoing guy. Uncomplicated, upfront, and unapologetic with what he wants. His what you see is what you get attitude is on prominent display for anyone who cares to look, and his foul mouth is right there to back it up should you miss the point.

However, what you see isn’t always what you get, and only a select few have ever glimpsed the real man under the brash exterior.

Among them? Professor Jordan Devaney. Complicated, high-maintenance, and vibrant, he’s Derek’s opposite in every way. From the moment they saw each other, a love-hate relationship began.

But what happens when one person wants more?

It’s time to come home, Finn.

It’s been seven years since Daniel Finley left his hometown in Florida for the hustle and bustle of Chicago’s city life.

Since then, he’s worked hard for his position at the prestigious law firm Leighton & Associates, even when it’s caused distance and isolation from his family and friends. But that’s all about to change.

On his thirtieth birthday, he receives the one thing he never dared hope for. Something that was promised to him years earlier—a note. One simple sentence from the man he’s never been able to forget.

Six words will forever change the course of their lives.

Brantley Hayes has it all. Or so he thinks. When he first made the decision to take a job down in Florida, his family thought he was crazy. But, after years of living in the quiet beach town, he finally feels a sense of community. He’s surrounded himself with friends who are like family, has a job he loves, and owns a spectacular beachfront property that is his sanctuary.

Yet he still feels unfulfilled, as if a piece of the puzzle is missing, and he knows exactly which piece it is. On an impulse, he follows through with a promise he made years earlier. A promise to call home the one he sent away.

Nothing is as simple as it seems.

After years of separation, the former lovers are reunited, but Brantley wasn’t expecting to encounter the high walls now guarding Daniel’s heart.

Daniel may not be the same person he was when he left, but he knows that the first step to healing is the note in his hand.

BROKEN GIRL SYNOPSIS:

My name is ROSE NEWTON, and I sell my body on the streets of San Francisco. I’m what you call society’s dirty little secret. On the outside, I’m in control, the woman who makes her own rules and gives nothing away for free. Inside, I’m broken and numb. Torn and shattered by my past, my life is nothing more than the lost fragments of what’s left of me.

SHANE WEST represents everything that’s foreign to me. He’s brave, kind, funny, gorgeous and persistent. When fate brings us face to face, an undeniable attraction blazes between us. He becomes the constant I’ve never had and the only man I’ll ever trust.

There is nothing simple about falling in love when you’re keeping a secret like mine.

BROKEN GIRL EXCERPT:

Time is bending my trust, breaking me before he brushes the back of his fingers against my lips. His touch startles me at first, but tracing his fingers on the outside curve of my lower lip soothes me.

“What if I can’t trust?” I ask in a hushed whisper.

“You can,” he answers, dragging his fingers along the outline of my jaw and down across my collarbone.

“What if it’s not in me?” I ask, still blindfolded and feet tangle in the sheet.

“You have everything you’ll ever need, right here.” he answers rubbing the tips of his fingers in circles between my breasts. My heart reaches for his touch as it leaps and crashes against my chest.

“You don’t understand, Mister, I need to have a sense of control.”

“Rosebud, control is an illusion, it’s a decision to trust a certain outcome. All you have to do is trust me and you’ll have all the control you need.”

I want his words to soothe me, and his calm, direct voice to caress the strength within me cowering at letting go of my scars. I want to trust him. I crave to taste the freedom he wants to give me. I want him to save me from a future tucked under cracked sidewalks, cold gutters and from ever having to fuck another man for a penance. I try and convince myself that he wants to keep me off the streets.

BOOK REVIEW: Forever Pucked by Helena Hunting

FullSizeRender

I love diving into a sequel when it’s done right and Helena Hunting had all the right moves with the follow-up to one of my ever top reads, Pucked. Forever Pucked made me realize just how much I missed Alex and Violet. These two are one of the ultimate fictional couples to ever grace the pages of a book. I was happily relieved to see that Helena Hunting stayed as true to these beloved characters as she could have and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

In Forever Pucked, we don’t only get to see the full scope of the wedding planning, but I loved how Helena incorporated new conflicts that Alex and Violet had to work through together in a way that only they can. Sexy with a heaping mix of Violet’s quirkiness, I found myself both squirming and laughing with delight. There was no denying the love that flowed between them. Strong and continuous, I fell madly in love with them all over again. I loved how Alex craved Violet, never once forgetting the love he felt towards her and the best part about it was that Violet so deserved his love and vice versa. I couldn’t believe how much Violet’s character had grown. Though still crass as all hell (just as I love her), she shows great maturity in both her personal and career life. I truly believe that it is her love for Alex that has gotten her to a place of self-acceptance and comfort. She proudly marched to the beat of her own drum and goodness I loved that so much.

I so enjoyed seeing the rest of the gang and getting to see how their stories have progressed without ever taking anything away from Alex and Violet. It was perfect!

Forever Pucked was exactly what Alex and Violet needed and deserved. Helena Hunting proves once again of her talent for comedic, sexy novels with unforgettable characters. In my opinion, Helena has dominated this genre and I look forward to so many more of her future work. I will forever be pucked when it comes to Beaver and MC. Keep rockin’ Ms. Hunting because you are definitely on your A-game!

FullSizeRender (1)

Wow. I believe I’ve found myself a new favorite Rebecca Shea book. As some of you may know, I’m a huge proponent of this author and I’ve followed her from the very beginning. Her past books have always been awesome, never has this author yet to let me down but this book definitely had the “it” factor. There is something for everyone in this book. It’s the kind that I know I’ll be reaching for time and time again for re-reads. There aren’t too many books out there that I’m able to say that about. Dare Me, is a book worth starting because I guarantee, once you’ve started, there is no stopping. Addictive and provocative, Rebecca Shea shines impressively bright in this book shelf worthy book.

How Hot Is Holt? SWELTERING, BLISTERING, SEARING. HOT. Everything about this guy was absolute perfection and I’ve just become a Holt addict for life. FOR LIFE (yes, it absolutely deserves repeating in all caps). I’m sorry, Landon Christiansen for I have strayed but I hope you understand just how difficult it is to resist perfection and I’m on bended knee proposing marriage to Holt Hamilton. To have and to hold—forever and ever. OMG. I’ve seriously lost it. That’s what this guy has done to me. I was taken off guard by how much of an alpha-male he is. I live and breathe, alpha-males done right and Holt Hamilton was constructed with absolute perfection. He had such an air of confidence. Successful, powerful, and decisive yet he made me so weak in the knees with how caring and gentle he was towards Saige. There were so many moments, if not, all throughout the book that I wish I could pluck Saige out of the pages and somehow plop myself in as her understudy instead just so I can get in on the HH action. Holt Hamilton, without question is a top contender in the world of fictional book boyfriends/husbands. I AM WILD for you HOLT HAMILTON!!!

I always love Rebecca’s heroines. They are strong individuals whom you know would be able to navigate through life on their own just fine. I appreciate that she puts intelligence in the forefront when it comes to her female protagonists as well. Saige Phillips is just that. Hard working, talented, and intelligent to add on to her mile long legs, sparkling green eyes, and svelte physique. I mean, no wonder why someone like Holt would find it hard to resist her. Damn, I found it hard to resist her—les-be-honest. She has a strong sense of self even with her demons constantly haunting her. Ugh. The prologue. What a way to introduce Saige to us all. My eyes misty and my heart aching, I knew that her journey throughout this book would be emotional.

Not only has this book become my favorite, but Holt and Saige have also officially become my favorite of Ms. Shea’s fictional couples as well. The force between these two is strong. The connection that binds them together is profound and I swear, I basked in every afterglow alongside these characters. The mix of clawing desperation and the calmness that they could only find with one another drove me crazy. I love that Holt fights to hold on to Saige, love that he was so accepting of her flaws, and even more so, I loved that he saw her flaws as part of who she is. Plain and simple, I loved every moment I spent with them. I couldn’t get enough of what Rebecca Shea threw at me.

The foreboding of when the proverbial “other shoe” would drop, it’s like you can see the train wreck that’s about to take place and yet you still wince and groan in pain when it finally smacks you right in the face and you just have to hold on tight and pray that the author somehow turns it all around and give these characters a happy ending they so deserve. Because that is what these two so greatly deserve. Whether they do or not, well, that’s something you’ll need to find out for yourselves.

Dare Me is one that I genuinely believe will hit the best sellers list because this book deserves it as equally as the happily ever after Holt and Saige deserve. With an “it” factor that I know the masses will love, Rebecca Shea really hit this one out of the park. Keeping her signature fresh style, she has added somewhat of a “people friendly” element to this book. I dare you, to one-click this book today. I promise, that you will be left with not only a new book boyfriend to swoon over, but also with a book hang over that is so well worth it.

PS. I will be the first (and if I’m not, I’d like to think I am) to BEG for a second book because I just can’t let Saige and Holt go just yet.

DARE ME TRAILER: https://youtu.be/9W7AnPtH_cc

Excerpt:

A quick train ride later and I’m pushing through the revolving doors to Jackson-Hamilton Aviation.

“Morning, Larry!” I wave and hustle past the security desk where Larry sits.

“Mornin’, sweetheart,” he yells back, never once taking his eyes off the newspaper he’ reading.

My heels click loudly on the granite floor of the open-air atrium as I hustle over to the elevator bank. I frantically press the call button for the elevator and glance at my watch. I’m already five minutes late. I hate being late. Punctual is my middle name. If I’m not five minutes early, I’m late. That’s how I roll.

Groaning, I tap the toe of my shoe impatiently. When an elevator finally arrives, I scurry in just as a voice from behind me hollers out, “Hold that elevator, please.” I grumble but hold the doors as Holt Hamilton glides in, a cell phone pressed to his ear. With a curt nod, he steps aside and the elevator doors close while my heart pounds wildly in my chest.

Holt Hamilton. The sexiest man I’ve ever seen and the Vice President of Jackson-Hamilton Aviation—basically my boss. Standing at least six-foot-three, he could be Henry Cavill’s twin brother. With striking blue eyes and dark hair that’s styled back off of his face, he’s the perfect combination of businessman meets runway model. His cut jawline is accentuated by one very perfect dimple on his left cheek.

His athletic frame is highlighted by his custom-tailored suit that hugs each and every curve of his shoulders, arms, and waist, showing every muscle the man owns as he leans against the side of the elevator. Today he’s wearing a charcoal suit with a blue shirt and striped tie. The blue shirt makes his blue eyes stand out against his tan skin. I catch myself staring and quickly turn to face the doors of the elevator.

“Morning, Ms. Phillips,” he says with a tight smile. He shoves his cell phone into the pocket of his suit jacket.

Again, my heart is racing. “Mr. Hamilton.” I nod and keep my eyes on the digital display showing the floor numbers. Fifty-seven, fifty-eight, I silently count as we continue to rise. Only thirty more. I take a deep breath, trying to calm myself.

“How are you settling in?” he asks, his voice deep and commanding. I half-turn to speak to him and catch his smirk, but he quickly composes himself and adjusts his tie.

“It’s going well. I submitted the final orders for both planes that were overdue. Mr. Jackson emphasized those were priority.” I raise my chin confidently, but my heart continues to race with nervousness.

“You closed both orders?” he asks, surprised. “As in, you got both clients to agree to every last detail?” He looks skeptical. These particular clients were a nightmare. I knew when I accepted the job that I’d have demanding clients, but those two were the cream of the crop.

“I did.” Another confident nod.

“Huh,” he mumbles, giving his head a little shake. “So how’d you do it? Rachel had been working for months with those clients, and they wouldn’t agree to anything she recommended.

She tossed their client portfolios on my desk the day she resigned and swore we’d never close the deal on those planes.” I try to contain my smirk. “I get to know my clients, Mr. Hamilton. I make an effort to really understand their likes and dislikes—their personal preferences. What excites them. What motivates them. Not just shove today’s best-selling aeronautical features down their throats. I work with them and, in the end, they trust me and my recommendations—we’re a team.”

“It’s that easy?” He cocks an eyebrow in amusement.

I cock an eyebrow in return. “It’s that easy. Payments are finalized and in the Jackson-Hamilton account, Mr. Hamilton. Planes are scheduled to be delivered to both clients in the next ninety days.” I rub my sweaty palms down the sides of my pencil skirt.

He stares at me silently, just chewing on the inside of his cheek when the elevator finally slows to a stop. The doors open and Holt reaches out and places his arm against the open door so as to not let them close on us, but in doing so, places himself shoulder to shoulder with me. Too close. So close I can smell his body wash and his minty breath.

I quickly step out of the elevator and into the lobby of Jackson-Hamilton Aviation and begin to walk down the hall toward my cubicle, the opposite direction of Holt Hamilton.

“Nice work, Phillips,” he says from behind me.

About the author

PHIL MARCELLO started writing as a boy in the sixties. Growing up in the projects wasn’t easy, but reading and writing were a couple of healthy vices he picked up along the way. Life happened, but Phil never entirely lost his interest and over the years, he started, but never finished, over a dozen stories.

Fortunately, he saved them all and now has the time and desire to complete them. Phil knows it will take years, but as he enjoys writing and views it as his art form it’s a labor of love he gladly undertakes.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision–a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

Whew, talk about an emotional journey. This book holds so many varying levels of “the feels,” all of which run so vast and so deep. A best friends to lovers story, Brittainy C. Cherry has orchestrated a perfect harmony of romance and heartache, of falling into the deepest low and of rising to the highest high. A story that had me silently weeping, haphazardly swatting tears off my face. Told in 2 parts, the author hooks you from the very beginning. I loved that she took her time introducing us to Alyssa and Logan—from the very first moment they met to the budding friendship that would ultimately lead them into each other’s arms intimately. It is the first part of their story that just had me shaking my head in amazement. I fell in love harder and harder as the love and the challenges grew between the protagonists.

The unbearable weight that Logan “Lo” Silverstone carries doesn’t merely end on his shoulders, it inhabits his entire being. Consumed by the belief that he’s set in a path of inherent self-destruction, he battles a multitude of addictions. My heart broke for him and many of my tears were shed for every time he gave into the darkness. I thought that Ms. Cherry did a sensational job conveying exactly what Lo was feeling before, during, and after those moments because she takes you into those dark places alongside him. I wanted to grab a hold of him and tell him that he was worth so much more than he believed he was and it killed me time and time again because he truly believed that he was a born addict, unworthy of redemption. Even having someone like Alyssa who was innately selfless, understanding, and forgiving telling him and showing him that he was priceless and that his was loved wasn’t ever enough for him to break through his self-hatred. Ugh. Again, it just broke me up. I wanted Logan to understand how right Alyssa was and to finally realize that how she saw him was who he truly was. I do wish, especially during the second part of this story, was for Alyssa to push back some, to give Logan a hard time and make him realize that his hurtful actions to push her away was not OK. I needed a little more fire out of her, rather than continuously enabling him and forgiving him straightaway.

I loved, loved the friendship between Alyssa and Lo. I loved who they became to one another when they both least expected it. Alyssa became Lo’s greatest “high” and he became hers as well. Time and time again, they would find themselves saving one another during the most crucial years in their lives. Lives that have somehow cheated them out of having loving parents and stable homes. It’s funny how similar their lives were but how completely different they’d both turned out to be because of it. Alyssa, overcoming and breaking out of her mother’s controlling hands and Logan being swallowed whole by the decisions of his drug-addict mother. This book was so much more than a love story. It touches on quite a bit of a familial element as well as Lo’s own individual journey. While I enjoyed that the author took it outside of the atypical romance, by throwing into the mix Lo’s heartwarming relationship with his brother and chaotic one with his mom, I personally thought that it also took away a little too much out of his and Alyssa’s story. They were what I loved most about this book which was why for me, the first part of this book is my utmost favorite.

The Fire Between High and Lo is without a doubt, heartbreaking but it held an unbelievable promise of redemption. In this book, Ms. Cherry shows her readers just how much of heart she put into this story and I know that my fellow Brittainy C. Cherry fans will love this book. Like me, you’ll shed tears and you too will fall in love with this best friends to lovers romance.

He had a right to remain suffocated by his pain.
She had a right to remain silent about hers.

For better or for worse.
Those were the vows that I had taken with my wife six years ago. We had lived through the better and were barely getting through the worse. I tried to face our loss together, while she chose to have an affair instead.
Time apart was what we both needed.
What I didn’t expect in that time was her.
The beauty she possessed on the outside was a far cry from the scars she was harboring on the inside. She wasn’t looking for love and neither was I. She just needed someone to help her deal with the pain she had been carrying around for the past two years, and I was happy to oblige.
I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with her, but suddenly I was seeing a future that I never dreamed of right in front of my eyes….only to find that the past had other things in mind for us.

***

I always believed that we only got one true love in life, and mine was gone and never coming back.
Through the tear-filled nights and never ending days, I was slowly and tortuously coming to terms with the pain that was my reality.
And then he entered my life.
Tall, handsome, genuine and caring, he was a friend when I needed one most. Together, we were a temporary fix to our own permanent pain. Just two people helping each other to get through a very dark period in life.
But when the light begins to shine ever so slightly with each passing day, and his face is all I can see at the end of that tunnel…..do I run back into the darkness or move into the light with him?

Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed Creative Writing. There was always something about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen – or in today’s world a touch of the keyboard. I am the author of The Exception To The Rule, An Unplanned series, Drowning In Love, A Cry for Hope, A Will To Change, Blind Side of Love, Three of a Kind series, and Easy Silence.
My life is not as interesting as my books or the characters in them, but then again whose life is? I’m a mom of twin teenage boys, a crazy Border Collie and a cat with an identity crisis! I guess you can say writing is my form of Calgon!
Thanks for taking the time to learn about my books and me! If you decide to read them (and I hope you do!) please be sure to go on and review it for me – yes, even if you don’t like it!

Aahhhhh!
I seriously want to scream from the rooftops how much I loved this book.
I was pleasantly surprised this book had a teacher/student spin to it! It just made the book that much more for me!
And that just knocked me out!

Finn and Brantley just took me by surprise. The way this story unfolded!
I could truly feel all the emotions between these two characters.
The sexual attraction, the broken hearts, the longing, and all the sorrow and anger…. Even the bitterness.
It was throughout the whole book!
I could totally feel it!
It totally ripped me apart.
I had tears in my eyes in certain parts of this book!

Finn and Brantley went through a lot to be together. The road to happiness was not smooth. There had to be a lot of forgiveness and letting go in order to let the past go and move forward.

This book was just so beautifully written. I could not put this book down. I had to force myself to stop reading and feed my family dinner!
When I came to end of the book.
All I thought was…. I wish they would make this book into a movie. I could so see this whole book playing out.

I absolutely can’t wait until we get the next book in this spin off series!
I’m sure it will be wild!

Excerpt

BRANTLEY KEPT A discreet eye on the final student to leave for the morning as Mr. Finley strode down the stairs to the front of the classroom. They were three weeks into the semester and he was ashamed to admit that, with every day that passed, his fascination with the young man grew.

At first, he’d tried to convince himself that it was purely academic. The kid was smart. He’d aced all the weekly quizzes, and Brantley was more than aware of the way he watched him lecture with keen, intelligent eyes that never strayed from him.

Oh, he was fascinated, all right, but he made sure to tell himself at the end of every class that it had nothing to do with the mischievous grin Daniel would flash at his friends or the easygoing laugh that would bubble up out of him at any given moment. But he knew he was lying. Daniel was quite possibly the happiest person he’d ever met, and his joy of life lit up the room and everyone in it. Including him.

When Daniel stopped in front of him and dropped his paper on the desk, Brantley acknowledged him with a glance before returning his gaze back to the notes he was going over.

“Any big plans this weekend, Professor?”

The question had been so unexpected that he didn’t think to catch himself before he replied, “Nothing too big. Just going out with some friends. You?”

Daniel smiled at him as he shoved his arms through the loops of his backpack, and Brantley couldn’t help but look at his shirt as it stretched across his broad chest.

“I’m going to hit the beach. Such great waves right now.”

“Ahh, you like to surf. That explains it.”

When the side of Daniel’s mouth crooked up, the effect was charming as hell. The kid was a knockout.

“Explains what?”

Annoyed that he’d made such a stupid slipup, he looked back at the papers in front of him, hoping Daniel would get the message and leave. No such luck.

“Explains what?” he asked again.

Brantley sighed and rested his arms on the desk as he studied Daniel’s inviting face. “It explains your hair.”

“My—oh,” he said, touching the ends of it. “Do you like it?”

Stunned by the direct question, he sat back in his chair and fought the smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Do I like your hair?”

“Yeah.

“Does it matter?” Jesus, fuck. Stop it. Stop flirting with him.

But it was too late. Daniel put his hands on the desk and leaned forward, Brantley toed the ground, shoving his chair back.

“It could…”

“No. No, it couldn’t,” he said as he got to his feet, shaking his head.

Daniel straightened and tucked his thumbs into the straps of his backpack, no doubt to taunt him. His eyes were too knowing for someone his age, and when they held his longer than was acceptable, Brantley’s heart skipped a couple of beats.

“Was there something else, Mr. Finley?”

“You said you were going out with friends this weekend…”

Shit, did I? “Yes, that’s right.”

As Daniel ran his thumb down the left strap of his bag, he admonished himself for noticing every little move he made. He needed to get a fucking hold of himself.

“Are any of them more than a friend?”

If he hadn’t been watching Daniel quite so closely, he wouldn’t have believed the words that had just come out of his mouth. But he had been. So he did.

“I don’t believe that’s any of your business. You better hurry or you’ll miss your next class.”

Satisfied that he’d firmly dismissed Daniel, he sat down and made a show of focusing on the books lining his desk and didn’t dare look and see if he had left this time or not. He wasn’t sure what he’d do if he was still standing there.

He reached up to adjust his tie, which suddenly felt a little too tight around his neck, and with each passing second that he was consciously not checking to see if he was alone, he swore that it was getting tighter.

“Professor Hayes?”

His head snapped up at his name, and when Daniel had his attention, he continued.

“Are you gay?”

Brantley’s eyes widened, and he wondered how his mouth hadn’t fallen open at the blunt question. Instead, he went with, “Excuse me?”

“I asked if you were—”

“I heard what you said. But I don’t see how that is any business of yours, either. You should think before you speak, Mr. Finley. I’m your teacher, and it’s time for you to leave. This conversation is over.” He flipped open one of the books on his desk and shook his head. He couldn’t believe the audacity of the kid—or the fact that he was so damn forthright. As he sat there, grinding his teeth in an effort not to look at his student—who was still standing in front of his desk—a bead of sweat ran down his collar and he cursed the fact that his nerves were getting the better of him.

“I only asked because, well, I am too. And I thought it would be nice to have someone to talk to.”

Well, hell. He couldn’t fault him for that. The only problem was…talking wasn’t what sprang to mind when he was around Daniel Finley.

He clasped his hands on the desk and stared into the anxious face peering down at him. Daniel was worrying his lower lip with his teeth, and he suddenly looked very much the young man he was.

“Are you?” he asked again, and there was no way he could deny that hesitant curiosity.

“Yes, Daniel. I am.”

As his words drifted between them, Daniel’s mouth slipped into a smile. “Oh.”

Brantley laughed at that. He wasn’t sure what Daniel was thinking right then. He’d thought for sure with the way he’d been looking at him earlier that, if he’d admitted this, he would be fending off—or at least putting up a good show of fending off—an unwanted pass. But, instead, Daniel appeared thoughtful.

“Does that bother you?”

Daniel adamantly shook his head. “No.”

“Are you sure?” he pressed, and the look that entered Daniel’s eyes then was so hot that he thought he may overheat.

“Yes. I’m very sure.”

Oh, fuck. Okay. Where the hell did the nervous guy disappear to? One minute, Daniel was endearingly awkward, and the next, he was looking at him like he wanted to strip him out of his clothes and—“Stop right there,” he said, and he wasn’t sure if he was telling himself that or the contradiction eyeing him with newfound knowledge. “Whatever you’re thinking, stop thinking it.”

“Why?”

Yep, he was fucked. That wasn’t a word he generally used, but in this case, he was well and truly fucked. He should’ve just stuck to the runalongnow speech.

“Because I’m your teacher.”

“This isn’t high school. I’m an adult.”

He sighed. “That may be true. But I’m your professor and this conversation is inappropriate.”

“How? I just asked if you were gay and you said yes. I don’t see what the problem is.”

When Daniel aimed a mischievous grin at him, Brantley knew he was very aware of what the problem was.

“Out,” he said, pointing to the door. “Time to leave, Mr. Finley.”

This time, he made sure to watch Daniel so he knew he was actually leaving. He walked to the door, but at the last minute, he turned around to look back at him. Not willing to back down and show weakness, Brantley kept his eyes on his student as Daniel ran his tongue along his lower lip.

“You should call me Finn. Everyone else does.”

Christ. The kid was going to drive him to an early grave, but damn if he didn’t laugh at his audacity.

“Out,” he said again, and this time Daniel pushed out the door and disappeared into the hall.

*Slight Spoilers*

This was an ok read. It wasn’t what I was expecting. I’ve been reading this series from the beginning. And I have to say… I’m 50/50 about it.

This book was a little bit on the serious side.
The pace of the book was kind of slow for me. I had a hard time connecting with Evren’s character. I just wasn’t feeling him.

The main characters took awhile to come together. And when they finally do get together. So many obstacles comes between them.
Brady has so many responsibilities. He can’t be just a normal 23 year old.
And Evren… His main priority is taking care of his aunt.

It seemed like they spent more time apart then together.
And when they did try to see each other something always popped up…. it was always a case of “if its not one thing it’s another”.

I’m not going to lie… I wasn’t feeling the whole bisexual thing from Brady. It kind of put a little damper on me.
And I wasn’t feeling all of Evern quirks in the bedroom department.
I just wasn’t feeling it.

Another thing that really got to me in this book was Brady’s sister Renee. I know she was still a teenager. But she was really selfish. She did not take anyone’s feelings into consideration but her own.

The ending of the book was nice. I’m glad it all worked out for everyone. And it ended the way it did.

Served Hot (Portland Heat #1)

In Portland, Oregon, the only thing hotter than the coffee shops, restaurants, and bakeries are the hard-working men who serve it up—hot, fresh, and ready to go—with no reservations…

Robby is a self-employed barista with a busy coffee cart, a warm smile, and a major crush on one of his customers. David is a handsome finance director who works nearby, eats lunch by himself, and expects nothing but “the usual”—small vanilla latte—from the cute guy in the cart. But when David shows up for his first Portland Pride festival, Robby works up the nerve to take their slow-brewing relationship to the next level. David, however, is newly out and single, still grieving the loss of his longtime lover, and unsure if he’s ready to date again. Yet with every fresh latte, sweet exchange—and near hook-up—David and Robby go from simmering to steaming to piping hot. The question is: Will someone get burned?

Baked Fresh (Portland Heat #2)

From its famous coffee to the mouthwatering fare at its cafés, restaurants, and bakeries, Portland, Oregon, has a lot to whet the appetite, including the hard-working men who serve it all up—hot, fresh, and ready to go—with no reservations…

Vic Degrassi is a baker on the rise, and it’s all thanks to his rare ability to make—and keep—his New Year’s resolutions. Whether it’s losing weight, giving up smoking, or graduating from culinary school, Vic goes after what he wants—and gets it. This year? He wants Robin Dawson, the sweet-hearted hottie who volunteers with him at the local homeless shelter.

When he learns that Robin is suddenly single after being unceremoniously dumped, Vic is more than happy to offer a shoulder to cry on—or at least a fresh-baked pastry to bite into. But it’s been a long time since Vic’s gone on a date, and he’s nervous about risking his friendship with Robin. So when their flirtation turns into a steamy night together, Vic and Robin have to figure out if they’re friends with benefits or lovers in the making, and if Robin is ready for something more than just a rebound. Delivered Fast (Portland Heat #3)

Portland, Oregon, aka Hotlandia, where the coffee shops, restaurants, and bakeries are ready to serve everything piping hot, fresh, and ready to go—like the hard-working, hard-bodied men behind the counters—with no reservations…

Sure, Chris O’Neal has problems. His restaurant is still co-owned by his ex. His flannel-and-tattoos style is making him accidentally trendy. He can’t remember the last time he went out and had fun. But he’s not lonely, he’s driven. And the hot bakery delivery boy is not his problem, no matter how sweet his buns.

Chris is old enough to know Lance Degrassi’s sculpted good looks and clever double entendres spell nothing but trouble. Lance is still in college—he should be hitting the clubs and the books, chasing guys his own age, not pursuing some gruff motorcycle-riding workaholic. Especially when he’ll be leaving for grad school in a few months. But Lance keeps hanging around, lending a hand, charming Chris to distraction. Maybe some steaming hot no-strings indulgence won’t hurt.

Then again, maybe it will…
