BLOG TOUR & BOOK REVIEW: The Catch by K. Bromberg

After an unexpected twist of fate, All-Star catcher Easton Wylder is left questioning the loyalty of everyone around him.

Even the woman who shares his bed, Scout Dalton.

But if Easton thought being uprooted to the last place he expected was the only challenge life had to throw at him, he was dead wrong.

With an ailing shoulder and his career in limbo, his decision to make an unexpected change leads him to question everything – Scout’s love, family loyalties, and whether he can conquer the one obstacle he’s never been able to overcome. The secret he’s never shared with anyone.

He may be a man pushed to his limits, but he’s hell-bent on proving his worth no matter the cost.

Melanie’s 5+ Star Review:

unnamedI am left with this ache deep in my bones after finishing The Catch by K. Bromberg. I haven’t had a book hangover in what feels like forever (probably since I finished The Player) and of course, she’s left me not with just any book hang over but a massive and debilitating kind. How do I move on from this?! And the only logical yet exciting solution to that is my desperate need for a re-read. To say that the follow-up and final book in this duet met my every expectation would be a lie because it didn’t just meet it, it blew it right out of the park. It far surpassed what I was so nervously hoping for—It’s the “oh my gawd, don’t let this disappoint!!” The Catch was the ending that Scout Dalton and Easton Wylder so abundantly deserved and one that rabid fans like me prayed for.

As you all graciously remember, K. Bromberg left us in quite a tizzy at the end of The Player. There were so many unanswered questions about Scout and Easton’s future. It was a cliffhanger that literary masochists like myself totally get off on. Not the sort that left me banging my fist out of anger but rather out of childlike anticipation. Oh, trust me, I was alternately stomping one foot after the other desperate for answers as I’m sure many of you were. Well, I am here to tell you… To promise you that after you’ve read The Catch you will be left feeling this sense of cathartic relief which will only emboss the worthiness of having to wait for all of the answers that lay wake to your questions.

In the first book, Easton fought for every ounce when it came to Scout’s fear of love and commitment. He was all in practically from the start after realizing just how much Scout understood him and accepted him for being just Easton Wylder—not THE Easton Wylder the baseball great who breaks records after records. I was putty over him for constantly taking hits after hits from Scout, never relenting in letting her know exactly what she meant to him. Well, in The Catch it is Scout who steps up to plate. She wholly surrenders to her love for Easton and becomes the rock that Easton needs when life takes him for a ride. You guys, 20% into this book and I’d already lost it. My heart beat precariously too fast, my palms embarrassingly clammy, and my thighs so wonderfully quivered. From the start of this book, K. Bromberg opens the floodgates wide open and just lets the good and bad times roll. I couldn’t get enough and I didn’t want to stop. I legit finished this book in less than 5 hours—including my lunch hour, pathetic sneak reads at work, and when I finally got home I practically hung a ‘do not disturb’ sign on my neck.

I loved, loved how much Scout and Easton loved one another. The adoration and the respect just floored me; I just felt it all. I swooned, I “tee-hee’d”, I cried, I gasped, I sighed.  There is no dull moment in the entire length of this book and what I appreciate and commend about the author was her ability to throw down some really serious and heart breaking issues in the story line. Ones that have been festering and ones that catch you off guard without drawling them out to the point of boring or frustrating her readers out of their minds. The angst is there, it makes your heart go WYLD and makes your belly feel like it does when you’re on a downward ride on a rollercoaster but it doesn’t go on and on and on where you’re like, “ugh! Is it over yet?!” She brings that rollercoaster up back, gives resolutions which makes the characters that much more enticing. They’re decisive without being stoic or cold. They feel and work through their emotions without wallowing in self-pity. It’s what makes me fall in love with Scout and Easton and their beautiful connection minute after minute, page after page.

The Catch is beyond entertaining. It is filled with twist and turns that keep you on your toes. The revelations and their repercussions won’t make your eyes roll and make you feel fed up. Instead, they will shock you, give you life, and make you say, “Oh my geeeeerd!!! So good! So, so, so good” over and over and over again because that’s exactly what I found myself doing. There is no lack of intimacy which trust me, will make you squirm in your seat. Best of all, K. Bromberg doesn’t overload the pages with one sex scene after another. They’re done with purpose to of course, excite her readers but also serve as a reminder of the undeniable connection – both emotionally and physically between Scout and Easton. Tasteful yet breathtakingly sensual, a total package in my opinion.

So while I maneuver myself through this massive hangover, I end this review with a clear mind and a full heart. The Catch is a dream book for literary masochist who is also a hopeless romantic. This was utter perfection, no ifs or buts about it.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00074]Baseball has never been sexier in an all-new novel by New York Times Bestselling Author, K. Bromberg.

Easton Wylder is baseball royalty. The game is his life. His passion. His everything.

So, when an injury threatens to end Easton’s season early, the team calls in renowned physical therapist, Doc Dalton, to oversee his recovery. Except it’s not Doc who greets Easton for his first session, but rather, his daughter, Scout. She may be feisty, athletic, defiant, and gorgeous, but Easton is left questioning whether she has what it takes to help him.

Scout Dalton’s out to prove a female can handle the pressure of running the physical therapy regimen of an MLB club. And that proof comes in the form of getting phenom Easton Wylder back on the field. But getting him healthy means being hands-on.

And with a man as irresistible as Easton, being hands-on can only lead to one thing, trouble. Because the more she touches him, the more she wants him, and she can’t want him. Not when it’s her job to maintain the club’s best interest, in regards to whether he’s ready to play.

But when sparks fly and fine lines are crossed, can they withstand the heat, or is one of them bound to get burned?

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Tycoon, an all-new standalone from Katy Evans is available now!!!

Tycoon Amazon

He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult.

Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me.

That man is gone.

In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.

He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman.

The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.

It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.

I didn’t expect him to offer it easily.

And he doesn’t.

Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone.

Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says.

He’s assessing every piece of me, to the point I’ve never felt so bare.

I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me.

Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself.

Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking.

Melanie’s 3.5 Star Review:

Katy Evan’s Tycoon reminded me of what clawing desperation feels like. A need that could only be alleviated by that one person who is as essential as your next breath. So much of the clawing want between the two characters were reminiscent of what I loved so much about Ms. Evan’s Real series. So much of what Aaric and Bryn were to each other and their intense connection took me back to what it was that made me first take notice of this author’s work.

Aaric Christos and Bryn Kelly find themselves reunited 14 years after being apart. From the moment that Aaric lays his eyes on Bryn those many years ago, he knew that she was the one. With the timing and their young age being huge factors, Bryn instead became the one who got away. Given a second chance to make her dreams come true, Aaric who has become Manhattan’s real estate and investment tycoon makes sure that this time around, he will do everything in his power to hold on to the woman of his dreams. Bryn definitely doesn’t make it easy for Christos. While both have built walls around them for fear of getting hurt, it felt as if Bryn’s was impenetrable—built impossibly high with no chance of being scaled. I have to say that there were lots of moments, especially during the first half of this book that left a bitter taste in my mouth. I was frustrated during a number of moments with Bryn because of her indecisiveness. Many times the reasoning behind the cat and mouse game between them just didn’t make sense to me. Jagged and disconnected, I had to put down my Kindle a few times to give myself some time to gather my wits about it because I just couldn’t wrap my head around it.

This book was a definite hate, love for me. While the first half of this book seemed to drag, I couldn’t quite get enough once the goodness got going. The moment that it finally clicks for Bryn to give into what her heart truly desired was the defining book moment for me too. You see, the animalistic, primal chemistry that existed between them truly did leave me breathless. I felt the lust, the need, and the love down to my bones. I reveled in everything that Bryn and Christos had to offer each other. I loved how hot they were for one another and most especially, I loved the gentleness and the reverence between them. Oh my, my… it was like opening a can of Pringles. Once you pop, you can’t stop and I didn’t want it to stop even when it had to end.

So while Tycoon started on a rough patch for me, there is absolutely still no question in my mind that Katy Evan’s is a romance mastermind. Her characters and their love stories will always, always be ones I will pick up—no questions asked… No blurbs or sexy covers needed. Knowing that it was written by her is enough for me. If you looking for a passionate love affair with tons of ups and downs then Tycoon is definitely one you’ll want as your next read.

We Like It Big Tunes:

Unthinkable (I’m Ready)- Alicia Keys

I hop off the train and walk several walks to his building.

It’s a brownstone in Park Avenue, one of the most elite of the elite spaces in town.

My lungs feel a little bit overworked from awe as I head up the steps to the double doors, grateful that I came dressed to kill in a little black dress, a jacket, and pumps. Simple, but effective.

See, I may be feeling a little awkward, but at least I don’t look it.

I’m greeted by his maid. She’s dressed in black and white, her hair drawn back in a neat bun, her expression stoic and formal as she leads me down the hall to a gorgeous study.

I catch my breath when I notice all the books and shelves.

It’s like a reader’s paradise in here. There’s a sleek chrome bar, a modern mahogany glass-topped desk, and two huge whiskey-colored leather chairs that almost swallow me up when I’m instructed to wait in one.

I drum my fingers, inhaling the scent of leather and wine, remembering a guy I knew with his mechanic navy-blue uniform, black streaks on his jaw, his big nose always the first thing you’d see, which was a pity because he had beautiful eyes and a really sinful pair of lips.

He’s living in luxury now. Wow. Good for him.

I hear footsteps approaching and the little hair on my arms prick at attention. My head turns as a tall, dark figure steps into the room, and the most intimidating guy I’ve ever seen enters and crosses the room toward the desk. He walks like he’s the shit…his strides proud and composed, elegant and powerful.

Christos, I hear myself breathe in surprise.

He’s so tall now…six three, at least. Dirty-blonde hair, gold-green eyes, chiseled jaw, and a gorgeous profile.

All in black, he looks very much a New Yorker.

He’s wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black turtleneck beneath the jacket…

I stare at him, my jaw hanging a little bit open. The man is….all man. Testosterone. Muscles. Height. Width. My chest hurts all of a sudden because I realize…

The boy you knew is gone.

I force myself to stand. “Thank you for seeing me.”

He heads to the bar to pour two drinks, then he prowls over, takes the whiskey leather chair across from mine and leans forward, pushing a glass of cognac with one finger across a small table, toward me.

And he waits.

In silence.

But my stomach dips as if he’d said something ultra-sexy and decadent.

“You might not remember me, I’m sorry to be reaching out like this,” I say, nervous.

“What do you want?”

There’s a pleasant shiver as he speaks. Recognition of his voice, even though it’s far deeper than I remember.

“I was told you sometimes invest in startups.”

“I’d say more than sometimes.” He raises his eyebrows as if I should’ve done my homework better.

Ugh, Bryn! Focus! Be SMART! Make yourself and your business irresistible! A silence settles as he eyes me, slowly setting his drink down as he leans forward and finally, unexpectedly, smiles. At me.

It’s just a smile.

But the world tilts under its impact.

“Hello, little bit.” Amusement touches his gaze as he tilts his head and watches me. “You know, I’d think you’d have grown up the ten-plus years since I last saw you. At least an inch.” He leans back in his seat, seemingly displeased. Wow, this guy is not the lanky kid I knew once. This guy oozes danger.

Every ounce of “boy” is gone. Oh God. For a moment I wish that we could go back in time and I could discuss my startup with the guy I knew before.

But time travel is not really my talent, and it seems like I have yet to see if I even have any special talents at all—depending on what this guy thinks.

“I grew two in width,” I shock myself saying.

He laughs then, his eyes drinking me in openly.

“Shame on you, you’re not trying to see if it’s true?” I ask him, frowning now.

He shrugs casually, his lips curved at the corners. “I can’t help it. Something has to have changed.”

“Because nothing good ever lasts. Even you, little bit.” A smile touches those unforgettable gold-green eyes.

A shiver runs through me. Because…

Christos recognized me.

“I can tell you’re as incorrigible as ever.” I shake my head, but I’m smiling, truly just relieved that he recognized me.

“I try to be,” he purrs dangerously.

I’m feeling warm all of a sudden. I can’t believe I’m staring at him so much, but it’s like I cannot take my eyes away. He looks achingly familiar, but at the same time, so different I cannot help but stare and track the differences in his features. The way his jaw squared out even more, the way his body filled out with hard, lean muscles that shift and ripple beneath his expensive designer clothes. I cannot believe that this is a guy I knew once.

He seems to silently be taking in my changes too, his keen stare allowing me to see that he seems to approve of it all. Even the dress I’m wearing. “You changed enough for the both of us,” I blurt.

“Really. How so?” he asks.

“You grew into your nose.”

“Really?” He chuckles as if despite himself.

“Width and height too. Quite a bit,” I add.

“Anything else,” he prods, one eyebrow rising.

“You learned how to dress.”

He looks down at his black suit. “This old thing?” He grins, then shifts forward, sobering up. “What can I do for you, Bryn? Considering I’m rather surprised to see you here, I’m eager for you to satiate my curiosity.” His stare becomes keen.

“So am I. I didn’t expect to be here,” I admit, and for a moment when I look into his eyes, all I see is someone I’ve seen before. Someone who belonged in my life long ago. “You know when you had that misplaced crush on me and told me one day I’d know what it felt like to throw pebbles at someone’s window wanting them to open? I’m sort of throwing rocks here.”

“Not to sing me a love song,” he says flatly, his eyes shuttering.

“No. Well, you know that was never….I mean…” Don’t bring up your rejection of him, Bryn! “It’s for something better. Business.”

“Go on.”

“I knew that’d get you.” I smile privately. “So it’s true your love is money now.”

“She gives back what I put in. Though her ass isn’t as juicy as I like,” he says nonchalantly.

“Wow. No matter how polished you look, your mouth is still as crude as ever.”

“Thank you,” he purrs, his eyes grinning at me.

I laugh. Then I sober up and realize he’s waiting for me to speak. “I’m looking for money for my startup,” I say.

“How much.”

“One hundred thousand.”

“I don’t invest less than a million.” He twirls his whiskey in his glass, eyeing the liquid.

“Well then, I’ll ask for a million.”

He raises his brows, setting his glass down. “It’s not how much you want to ask for, it’s how much the company’s worth.” Eyebrows up, he skewers me with a cold, intimidating look.

“It’ll be worth more than a million, trust me,” I bluff.

“Good for you. Except…” he leans back with a rustle of clothes, every athletic inch of his black-clad body flowing sinuously like a feline with the move, “considering that has yet to happen and I’ll need to trust you on that, my trust needs to be earned.”

This version of Christos is even more intimidating than the old one, unfortunately.

I try to hide it, keeping my voice as level as possible. “How does one earn your trust?”

“I’d tell you if I were interested, but I’m not exactly sure that I am.” He eyes me as if debating in silence.

This guy is the only guy in the world that unnerves me in this way, and I can’t seem to slow the fast pounding of my heart in my chest as I try to remember what I came here to say.

“I have a full presentation for you. I’m not taking no for an answer.” I reach into my briefcase.

“Darling. Are you ready?”

I start at the female voice and glance at a gorgeous woman striding into the study. Christos continues looking at me as he stands and reaches for the cell phone the woman extends out.

“We’re done here,” he answers her as he pockets the phone, his gaze remaining on me.

“I’ll wait for you in the car.” She leans up and kisses his jaw, her hands proprietary on his chest, then sends me a woman-to-woman claiming look, before she swishes away, all glittering jewels and lean body.

There’s a silence as he approaches, and for a second all I can hear is the sound of a toilet flushing, taking my only opportunity with a possible investor away.

“I’ll think about it,” he says.

“I said I’ll think about it,” he says from the door.

“Please do,” I say as he exits the room. I cup the sides of my mouth, “I’ll be back tomorrow. Same time?” I say jokingly.

I’m surprised when I hear footsteps returning. He pauses when our eyes meet. “I’ll make contact,” he says, raising his eyebrows meaningfully, “If I’m interested in hearing more.” He nods. “Nice to see you, Bryn.”

“Nice to see you. Christos.”

Well, that went sort of awful.

Step into the Honey Club, where every sensual boundary will be tested in search of the ultimate pleasure…

Branch doesn’t exist. Living off the grid, he’s looking for a way to forget his past and the guilt that plagues him. But no woman has ever been able to bring him to the edge he craves.

After a traumatic experience of her own, Evangeline stepped away from the decadent world of the Honey Club. But when she gets Branch’s offer—to play without boundaries or commitments—it’s too tempting for her to refuse.

As their passion ignites, Evangeline and Branch push each other to their farthest limit, fulfilling their darkest desires while falling harder and deeper than they ever imagined.

Melanie’s 5-Star Review:

unnamedThe second installment in Kristen Ashley’s Honey series brought back KA’s signature style mixed with what I’d loved most about The Deep End.

A provocative and authentic look into the world of BDSM filled with a heavy dose of swoon and romance. In The Farthest Edge, we are re-introduced to Amelie’s friend Evangeline. If you’d read the first book in this series you’d remember that she underwent  quite a traumatic experience at the place she thought to be her safe haven. Little did she know that her safe haven would come in the form of a haunted, brooding man who would lay his own life to protect hers.

I loved the connection between Branch and Evangeline and not just in the bedroom or the playrooms either. These two were so good for one another’s soul. Set up by Aryas the owner of The Honey Club, he knew from the start that they would be one another’s salvation and boy was he ever right. Now why can’t we all have a naughty Fairy Godfather like him?! There was a vulnerability that lurked behind Branch and Evangeline. Both carrying pasts that in some way have shaped who they have become. Their awareness for each other’s feelings and needs ran deep. This to me showed such tenderness and genuine respect for one another. Trust is a huge aspect in the kind of relationship they share and for Branch to have been betrayed in his past costing loved ones their lives, it takes an infinite amount for him to open up to anyone let alone allow anyone to become a part of his life. I thought that they made the perfect match because of the experiences that they both share. They are able to relate and understand the demons that lurk just around the corner.

If you’d asked me before reading this series if I’d ever get turned on by a male sub and a woman Dom, I’d have surely and quickly told you, “no way.” But the thing about Kristen Ashley is this… She creates the absolute best alpha subs out of her heroes. Branch is the perfect example of this. The thigh clench was undeniably present throughout the entire book. Holy smokes, the heat blazed and it burned me to a crisp. I am in awe of the fact that she was able to turn such a preconceived notion into ash.

The Farthest Edge had a softness to such a sexy story line. While you’d think that the BDSM world could only be filled with kink (though there is that), it is also so much more. Kristen Ashley opens your eyes to discover that this world holds so much more. I loved this book and I most especially loved that it brought back the KA style that I’d fallen quickly in love with after reading my 1st book of hers. It’s a pleasant and comforting reminder that while she pushes the limits with something new and distinct, she keeps intact everything that KA fanatics like me have become obsessed with. So keep the good things going, Ms. Ashley because I along with many others will surely be coming for more.

He knew this was her playroom before he’d entered but right then he saw that she didn’t hide it under

sheets and tarps, just behind the shutters.

Branch shifted the light around, seeing a horse, a bench, a table, all of them good quality. It cost a mint

to outfit a good playroom and she didn’t make do. She’d been investing. Making smart purchases that

would look good, stand strong during play and last a while.

Fashionable sink in the corner set in an attractive wood vanity, two matching tall, slim cupboards on

each side.

He moved there, looked through the vanity and cupboards. Thick towels. Washcloths. Wet wipes. Soap.

Bottles of foam anti-bacterial. Cleaning supplies. A large box of condoms. A little basket filled with some

cosmetics—powder, lipsticks, gloss. Another filled with first-aid supplies—Band-Aids, bottles of

antiseptic, tubes of ointment, gauze, cotton.

He closed the door to the cupboard he was inspecting, turned and shined the light around the room.

Moving across the space, he noted hooks on the walls, in the ceiling, eyes in the floor, all looking sturdy.

Whoever put them in might have wondered why or he’d been hers. But whoever that was knew what

they were doing.

There was a tall cabinet and a large dresser across the room, both in the wood that made up the vanity

and the cupboards. It all matched, was heavy and dark but attractive, giving the space the definite feel

of playroom, not a dungeon. It was stylish and handsome, even warm, somewhere you’d want to stay

He didn’t think on his last thought as he opened the top cupboard doors of the cabinet and shined the

light in, feeling what he found there in his dick.

Cats. Whips. Switches. Flogs. Paddles. Some straps. Some harnesses. All hanging from hooks. All well

organized and well maintained. All also excellent quality. Not many, but again, quality, not quantity, was

what she was clearly going for.

He closed the doors and crouched down to the two drawers at the bottom of the cabinet, opening

them. Top one had silk ropes, some chains, shackles, cuffs. The bottom drawer was full of leather straps

with cinches attached.

Branch straightened, moved to the dresser. Nothing littered the top, so he opened the first drawer.

What he found there made his balls draw up.

Carefully placed in what looked like purple silk-lined, custom-made grooves were her toys.

Plugs. Cocks. Vibrators. The first two in an impressive range of lengths, girths and shapes. If they had

them, remotes were placed at the side of the toy they controlled. There was also a complicated cock

ring, rabbit ears at the front for clit stimulation, and a strap that would lead between the balls to a bullet

that could be inserted in the anus, all of it obviously vibrated—triple the fun.

She like ass.

Not many of her kind didn’t.

He didn’t think on that either.

About Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorizeand she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

BOOK REVIEW: Stand by A.L. Jackson

ALJackson-StandBookCover525x8_BW_MEDIUMZachary Kennedy has never been known as a fighter, but he’ll never regret fighting for her…

I’m Zee Kennedy.
Quiet. Reserved. Predictable.
When my brother died, everyone thought I was just the good guy who stepped up to take his place in the band.

No one knew what I was hiding. The one thing I’ve been fighting for.

For seven years, I’ve never lost focus.

Not until one chance encounter with Alexis Kensington.

Now she’s become my greatest temptation.
I knew better than to touch her, but now that I’ve had a taste, I can’t get enough.
Her kiss becomes my air. Her body my salvation.

She needed a savior and somehow she became mine.

Taking her was a betrayal. But keeping her means risking everything.
One look at Alexis Kensington, and I know she’s worth the fight.
Will my past continue to keep me down or will I finally find the strength to pull myself up and Stand…

Melanie’s 5-Star Review:

18446735_834697163353768_7050315529418488371_nThe end to every beloved series is always bittersweet, there’s no question about that. However, what rabid fans could only hope for is that the finale is the sort that the characters deserve. So for fans of the Bleeding Stars series, I am here to tell you that Ms. Jackson not only delivered but delivered it fiercely. In Stand we get to see a new side to A.L. Jackson’s writing. She hooks you with intrigue and keeps you wanting for more. I didn’t expect such a suspenseful story line but from the get go, Zee’s story was bound by so much secrecy and mystery. My heart was pulsing erratically, my palms sweating, and my mind going a hundred miles an hour trying to figure out Zee’s truth. It was a losing battle, impatiently begging for the pages to go by faster to reveal all the secrets wide open and at the same time hopelessly wanting the pages to slow so that I could relish the book just that much longer to avoid accepting the inevitable fact that Stand is the last of this heart tugging series.

Zee and Alexis had a powerful start to their story—quite reminiscent to that of Ash and Willow’s actually. There was this tangible connection that tethered them from the very first moment they’re introduced. A strange familiarity that caused both their walls to crumble – easily, effortlessly, extraordinarily.  I loved, loved Alexis. I loved how genuinely open she was about her feelings for Zee; always choosing to live and squashing down all her fears. She was all in, leaving behind any uncertainty and for me this was a breath of fresh air, something I always seem to crave from heroines.

With Zee’s world being surrounded by so much ambiguity, Alexis was exactly the kind of woman that he needed to fight for him. She was there to remind him of life’s meaning and to lead him to re-discover who he is. After losing Mark, Zee also lost himself. He harbored so much guilt and he felt the only way for him to atone for his sins was to protect his brother’s living legacy—Sunder. Stepping up to take over his brother’s place in the band as their drummer, he forgets to find happiness for himself, believing that he didn’t deserve a happy ending if Mark couldn’t have his. My heart broke for Zee so many times during this book. Having such a strong bond with my own siblings, I couldn’t help but empathize. I deeply felt his loss and the pain that came with it. So when the sun began to shine during his days and the stars began to glitter with promises of wishes coming true, my heart bloomed right alongside the love that blossomed between Alexis and Zee.

The last few lines of this book just about undid me. My throat bobbed heavily, tears prickled at the corners of my eyes, and goosebumps erupted across my skin.  Everything about this book just felt final because A.L. Jackson did an outstanding job with driving the entire story line in full circle. There was no stone in the sea left unturned. She made you truly feel like you were drowning to breathe both from Zee’s story alone and from sheer realization that, “OMG this is really it!” I have come to love all of the characters and their emotionally gripping journey. Every single one of them. Their stories that cause your heart to go haywire you’d swear it’s where lightning strikes. I cannot wait for you all to read this book, I guarantee you will not be disappointed one bit. These beloved characters will stay with me forever and if someone is smart enough to adapt these books into film you can bet I’d be the first one to stand in line for it. So yes, I am in utter denial as I finish up this review. I can’t imagine not ever getting a taste of the whole Sunder family again so I’m grateful for a thing called—re-reads.

Melanie’s 5+ Star Review:

I am floating so high…. High, high all the way to the sky right now. K. Bromberg’s latest release The Player was an exhilarating home run! Ball thrown at nanosecond speed, that ear splitting crack against the bat, flying way beyond the stadium walls sort of home flippin’ run!!!! Oh you guys, I cannot even fully express just how much I loved the heck out of this book. It brought out my Julie Andrews arms wide dancing and twirling over the hills of the Sound of Music. The Player is the type of book that has you crawling out of your own skin and into its pages. The sort that I wanted to savor thoroughly and ever so slowly. The kind that makes you just hold your Kindle against your chest, swaying back and forth in anguish once it ends. This book is THAT book that you wish you could unread in the false idealistic belief that you could experience it anew. The characters, their chemistry, the plot line, and the delivery so overwhelmingly satisfying I couldn’t for the life of me put it down for more than a few “because I have to feed my family” minutes.

Scout Dalton is recruited to be the person to put the Austin Aces star player back on the field. Having grown up in the world of baseball, Scout has honed in on the ins and outs of rehabilitating the players from the disabled list back to the elusive active roster. Having learned and still somewhat being guided by the best, she is confident in securing not only the player’s success but also her own. I loved Scout, I loved everything about her—from her intelligence, to her good nature, even down to her skittishness. Having lost so many of the most important people in her life, she’s made herself believe that she’s cursed somehow. I couldn’t blame her one bit. Put in her shoes, I’d feel exactly the same way and gosh, I just felt so bad for her. This precious need to hold on to the very last source of love left in her life, she begins to falter in what she’s come to do when The Player she works on begins to work his way into her heart instead. And OMG OMG OMG does he ever work for her attention and her heart! Easton Wylder had every single bit of my body going wilder than ever before. You guys! He is utter perfection! P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N! Be still my ever fickle heart, Easton said and did the right things. He is every bit the bonafide definition of book boyfriends and book husbands combined. Physically built like a goddamn Adonis, it comes nowhere near the gold that his heart is made of. I legit surrendered my heart, my body, my damn panties over to him.

Easton and Scout’s connection was apparent from the very start and the start of it was pretty damn funny. That’s what I loved about them—there was a lightness and easiness to their relationship from the start. There was an understanding of one another’s needs and wants beyond any I’ve read as of late. The swoon factor is crazy intense. My ovaries bursting like piñatas at a Cinco de Mayo fiesta. Any sensibility left the building from the very first smirk out of Easton Wylder and the very first blush that colored Scout Dalton’s face. I loved how mystified Scout was by what Easton was making her finally feel and that he was able to see past what other never seemed to ever have. There weren’t copious amounts of sex scenes in this book but the times that there were… Holy shoot. My saliva gathered around my mouth from the deliciousness of such intimate and heady scenes. I loved it. Loved that it was littered throughout the book for the sake of it but rather written in with such finesse to make the biggest, most profound impact. There was this confounding force behind what they felt for one another—Scout constantly pushing Easton away and Easton quickly pulling her back in, the desperateness for one another and the peace they can only find with one another which made it all so downright addictive.

This was more than just a wonderful love story. There’s a familial element that we could all relate to which also drove the plot line. From the overpowering need to please their parents, to the stifling fear of letting them down. Both Scout and Easton held such an understanding about it that they both became an outlet for each other’s struggles, ultimately fueling the already powerful connection they have. I love a backstory to an already amazing story and I thought that K. Bromberg executed that perfectly.

The Player played me like a violin. From one sentence to the next, this book had me feeling like a giddy sixteen year old. Breath hitching, palms sweating, cheeks sore from smiling so dang hard—K. Bromberg was relentless in delivering THE FEELS. I cannot wait to see how Scout and Easton’s story plays out in the follow-up of this intoxicating duet. Until then, I take solace in knowing that a re-read is just at the tip of my fingers.

BLOG TOUR & BOOK REVIEW: Royally Matched by Emma Chase

Royally-Matched-3D-bookSome men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry Charles Albert Edgar Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.

He’s not handling it well.

Hoping to force her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora goes on a much-needed safari holiday—and when the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:

Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.

A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world’s most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.

While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.

The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit…and her naughty sense of humor.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.

As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.

Melanie’s 5+ Star Review:

Holy SWOON alert, Batman!!! I’m talking level ten swoon here. If you are in the mood for pure, unadulterated romance then Emma Chase’s Royally Matched is just the book for you! I was quite literally feeling the high from everything that was Henry and Sarah! My head was floating amidst the clouds, seeing nothing but hearts all around me. UGH! I wish this would release before Valentine’s Day because seriously you guys, this is THE PERFECT read to get you into the mood. I didn’t think it was possible for Henry to outdo his brother Nicholas from the first book in this standalone series, Royally Screwed but my gosh this playboy totally did. I have always been a believer that the naughtiest, toughest womanizers fall the hardest when they find the one and this right here just proved it. Le Sigh. Yes… So many sighs and so much squealing happened over the course of one sitting.

The characters and their wicked chemistry are what made me fall madly in love with this book. I loved, LOVED both Henry and Sarah. Their vulnerabilities only proved to show how strong willed and in touch they were of themselves. I loved the honesty between them and their abilities to strengthen one another’s weaknesses. They were an answer to one another’s questions. It’s like they just fit together so perfectly even if from the exterior no one would ever think to put them together. Sarah, is a soul sister. An unpretentious literary enthusiast who once again proves that book nerds are the new sexy. She has a gentleness about her that could calm the harshest storms and in a way that’s exactly what she does with Henry. A modest, quiet, beautiful woman who tames the ostentatious, rowdy playboy prince. It’s what makes for the very best love stories.

Royally Matched was lit up by the delicious intimacy between Sarah and Henry. What is that saying?? “It’s always the quiet ones?”

You guys. The heat factor—WHOA MAMA!!! I was burning up and my lady bits were going haywire. I felt like I was literally vibrating—intense and inhibited. This is exactly what I mean when I say that I still believe in fairytales but my version just happens to have a dirtier mind. So flippin’ good!!! I had this silly smile on my face the entire time. Emma Chase has once again proven just why she’s an automatic must read author for me. The way that she’s able to weave the romance alongside the raunchy, and still be able to have you clenching your gut, rolling around the floor laughing is magic. No one else can quite pull it off like she can.

I will say it again, Royally Matched is SWOON WORTHY. It’s made for readers like me — a hopeless romantic with a dirty, dirty mind. I cannot recommend this book enough. The perfect read to pick up at any time, at any day, anywhere. So basically, just buy this beauty and enjoy the heck out of Henry and Sarah like I did. This absolutely has my book shelf worthy stamp of approval and another one added to my top 2017 reads.

RELEASE TOUR & BOOK REVIEW: Pucked Off by Helena Hunting

Pucked Off, an all-new emotional and sexy STANDALONE from Helena Hunting is LIVE!!

Pucked Off by Helena Hunting
Genre: Contemporary Romance

businessman working on laptop in black suit

***A Standalone novel in The Pucked Series***

I’m NHL defense man Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance.”

I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want.

Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way.

I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve.

At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.

I shouldn’t want her.

But I do.

I should leave her alone.

But I won’t.

Melanie’s 5-Star Review:

I’ve had a long standing relationship with Helena Hunting’s Pucked series. Pucked was the ultimate love at first read and like all relationships, there was a bit of a struggle with Miller and Sunny’s story but I stuck with it, knowing full well that things could only start getting better again and Ms. Hunting didn’t disappoint. The flame that dimmed was once again lit with Randy and Lily’s story. So when the official blurb and release date were released for Lance Romero aka Romeo’s story I was as always, fully on board! What I didn’t expect was for Pucked Off to shatter all my preconceived notions about this series in general. Lance and Poppy’s story was stirringly different from what you’d expect from the usually crass and laugh out loud style. Pucked Off is definitively the most heartwarming and sweetest of all. It’s the sort of book that will have you clenching your e-readers or paperbacks against your chest, staring into space and sighing when it’s all said and done.

If you’ve followed this entire series like I have, you will be thrilled to know that Lance’s story goes far beyond what you’ve been accustomed to from the other books. He is nothing at all like what we have been led to believe. He is broken and vulnerable with a past that hurts to even just read about. Unwilling to believe that he’s worthy of deserving genuine happiness in life, he succumbs to the rumors and to the betrayal that have been thrown his way. My goodness did I just want to envelop him in a tight hug during so many times in this book. This need to protect him and to shelter him from anymore hurt was strong

It isn’t until Poppy reappears in his life, that he is forced to face the demons he’s allowed to decay every surface of his mind and his heart. Poppy unbeknownst to Lance is actually a blast from the past and if you’ve read the previous books in the series, you’d know exactly where to place her but again the history between them is so, so much more than first thought. It’s the rediscovery and the epiphany that comes alongside it that will just have your heart squeezing overtime. I’d find my breath coming faster and faster, my eyes going wider and wider each time they began to know more and more of one another. There was something so natural about the two of them, like they’ve been waiting to crash unto one another to become this one, harmonious unit. Like, they just made sense.

There was a desperateness to Lance’s need for Poppy. Like he would move mountains just to get to her and wouldn’t allow anything to harm her in any way. Quite frankly, it weakened my knees. I loved how Lance treated their relationship with such fragility because of how much he treasured Poppy. The sense of disbelief that someone as precious as her could love him much less for him to actually deserve her, both broke and filled my heart. I was bursting from the seams at their every touch, in each kiss, and in every look.

Pucked Off blew me away. Everything about it was completely unexpected and just absolutely wonderful. It made my heart pitter patter and my insides melt. Lance Romero’s struggles only made the good that much greater because it once again makes us realize that without the bad we cannot fully comprehend the true meaning of what is genuinely good for us. It is our struggles and our challenges that helps us identify the difference between what we think we deserve to what we essentially deserve. Lance’s and Poppy’s story is the perfect reminder that timing is everything and that the very best things come to those who wait. This has my bookshelf worthy stamp of approval and one I cannot wait to re-read.

Armed with my clipboard, I walk down the hall to the waiting room. Lance is impossible to miss. Despite the fact that he’s wearing a sweatshirt and the hood is covering half of his face, he’s more than six feet of broad, hockey-playing man.

He’s so wide his shoulders encroach on the chairs on either side, which would explain why no one is sitting next to him. He’s slouched down so his head rests on the back of the chair, and his hands are clasped in his lap, a baseball cap hanging off one knee. His lips, plush and soft—I know since I’ve had them on mine; it might have been a decade ago, but I remember it clearly—are parted. He looks like he’s asleep.

I clear my throat. “Lance Romero?”

He doesn’t move.

Bernadette, the receptionist, gives me a meaningful look.

I clear my throat again and call his name a second time. He jolts awake and the hood falls back, exposing his face. It’s not in good shape. He has a black eye and bruises on his left cheek. There’s a fly bandage across one eyebrow.

Sadly, he’s still hot.

He blinks a few times, yawns, and smacks his lips, his tongue touching the split in the bottom one. His gaze sweeps the room and finally lands on me. Heat explodes in my cheeks and courses through my limbs, warming me from the inside out as he starts at my sneaker-clad feet and roams up over my yoga pants to my company-issued T-shirt before stopping at my face. I can’t look directly at him for more than a couple of seconds. I sincerely hope he doesn’t remember me. I cannot go there and also be professional.

I’m sure the smile he gives me has melted many a panty off a slutty bunny. Mine stay right where they’re supposed to, wedged up my ass.

I force a polite, professional veneer. “I’m ready for you now.”
