BLOG TOUR & BOOK REVIEW: 1001 Dark Nights: Rough Ride by Kristen Ashley

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Ashley comes a new story in her Chaos series…

About ROUGH RIDE:

Rosalie Holloway put it all on the line for the Chaos Motorcycle Club.

Informing to Chaos on their rival club—her man’s club, Bounty—Rosalie knows the stakes. And she pays them when her man, who she was hoping to scare straight, finds out she’s betrayed him and he delivers her to his brothers to mete out their form of justice.

But really, Rosie has long been denying that, as she drifted away from her Bounty, she’s been falling in love with Everett “Snapper” Kavanagh, a Chaos brother. Snap is the biker-boy-next door with the snowy blue eyes, quiet confidence and sweet disposition who was supposed to keep her safe…and fell down on that job.

For Snapper, it’s always been Rosalie, from the first time he saw her at the Chaos Compound. He’s just been waiting for a clear shot. But he didn’t want to get it after his Rosie was left bleeding, beat down and broken by Bounty on a cement warehouse floor.

With Rosalie a casualty of an ongoing war, Snapper has to guide her to trust him, take a shot with him, build a them…

And fold his woman firmly in the family that is Chaos.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Melanie’s Review:

There is no better feeling than after reading Kristen Ashley’s words. Every single time I pick up one of her books it’s like a shot of caffeine goes through me and I feel ridiculously rejuvenated. I had a taste of Rosalie and Snapper’s story in Walk Through Fire and definitely wanted more. So I was so happy to get that Ms. Ashley gave us more in her upcoming release, Rough Ride which is part of 1001 Dark Nights novella.

The start of this book was heartbreaking to read and quite frankly it made Rosalie burrow herself deep in my heart so early on. Because this is a novella. We are obviously getting a quicker, more compact storyline. I thought this worked out great seeing as we already had some background to Snapper and Rosalie’s relationship.

This novella was short and sweet. You can’t help but fall in love with the protective way Snapper treats Rosalie. He encompasses exactly what is expected of a Kristen Ashley alpha male. Rough around the edges but so completely delicious. The sort that makes you want to jump inside the book and take on the heroine’s role yourself. Utterly swoon worthy. Their chemistry is both sweet and naughty. The very best of both worlds.

Rough Ride was a perfect novella that will make Chaos fans like myself hungry for more. I can’t wait to see how all of what’s been developing finally unfolds in this highly addictive MC series.

About Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

BLOG TOUR & BOOK REVIEW: Wildcat by Max Monroe

Wildcat_FINAL

Blurb:

Wildcat: a football formation in which the ball is snapped, not to the quarterback, but to another player lined up in the quarterback position.

Wild, Cat: a beautiful woman from the sky, who hooked me against the rails, and has me on the ropes. Sweet like honey, with a hint of sass burning behind her pretty brown eyes, she took over my heart without warning.

I’m Quinn Bailey, quarterback for the New York Mavericks.

Sports analysts predicted I’d break records and take my team all the way.

 But no one predicted this.

And just like the other team, I never saw it coming.

Disclaimer:
Unfortunately, you many not MARRY this book without proper consent from the authors.

Though the idea of a spouse who does nothing but provide you endless laughs for hours at a time, turn you on, make your heart swell, and require nothing but your undivided attention for several hours in return sounds nearly orgasmic, there are laws. And the Fictional Municipality only allows twenty book wives at a time.

Due to high demand for a significant other that encourages you to leave the dishes in the sink, the laundry in the washer, and the vacuum in the closet unattended, we’ve implemented a shift schedule of marital proprietorship. You will be rotated accordingly.

Melanie’s 4 Star Review:

Holy swoon alert! Honestly, I didn’t expect anything less from Max Monroe but I swear these two gave us something so insanely sweet, I felt like I had a cavity on every tooth once I was done. Quinn Bailey scored touchdowns not only in the field but all over my hopeless romantic heart. For me, Wildcat was all about the Mavericks quarterback. He won me over times a million.

While the start of the book was a little slow for my taste, once it started to pick up it really picked up. The means in which Quinn wooed the beautiful Catharine Wild drove me quite wild as well. The chemistry they had was explosive. There was so much sweet and also so much heat. I was burning up during certain moments between Quinn and Cat. Gosh, these two were so hot for each other.

In typical Max Monroe fashion, there’s also quite a bit of humor sprinkled all over the pages. The inhaler moment?! YAS! LOL LOL! Reminded me so much of Georgia (from Tapping a Billionaire) and her Benadryl moment. I genuinely enjoy these authors writing. It’s always one heck of an entertaining ride.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, Wildcat may just be the perfect read whether if you’re spending it with a Quinn Bailey of your own or spending it with girlfriends as loveable as Catharine Wild.

About THE BEAU & THE BELLE

Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies.

I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras.

That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window.

A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom). He was older. Intimidating. Hot. Boys my age had chicken legs and chubby cheeks. Beau had calloused hands and a jaw cut from steel. Our interactions were scarce—mostly involving slight stalking on my end—and yet deep down, I desperately hoped he saw me as more of a potential lover than a lovesick loser.

Turns out, I was fooling myself. My fragile ego learned that lesson the hard way.

Now, ten years later, we’re both back in New Orleans, and guess who suddenly can’t take his eyes off little ol’ me.

My old friend, Mr. Fortier.

But things have changed. I’m older now—poised and confident. My ego wears a bulletproof vest. The butterflies that once filled my stomach have all perished.

When I was a teenager, Beau warned me to guard my heart.

Let’s hope he knows how to guard his.

Melanie’s 5-Star Review:

A feel good romance, The Beau & The Belle was exactly what I was craving to start this year off. R.S. Grey is THE BEST at such a story line. Inviting without being forceful, she coerces the best kind of laughter that bubbles from deep within right out for the world to hear—snorts included. I loved that the book was broken up in two parts—the past and the present. It gave tangible proof to what the characters were feeling the moment they reunite ten years later and their feelings? Well, they somehow became my feelings too.

The characters, both the primary protagonists and the secondary roles were extraordinary. I enjoyed every morsel of what they added into the mix. However, I have to give most of this love to Lauren LeBlanc. You guys, she is ALL OF US! At one point in our lives, whether it be our “no longer a girl, not yet a woman”, insecure, hormone filled seventeen year old selves’ or the more polished, career oriented, more secure selves’ now. SHE IS US! Every. Single. One. Of. Us. And OMG, OMG how I ADORED her. Like, totally, majorly adored her. Born with a surname that is respected and adored in New Orleans, Lauren attended a prestigious all girls’ school and of course participated in long standing traditions like a cotillion. Even though she comes from “old money,” she is still your loveable, awkward, and funny as hell girl. Something that she really never out grows. Beau Fortier however, is the “who” she never quite out grew as well.

With something to prove, Beau is determined, smart and polished. But behind all of that, he’s as warm and as sweet, and utterly delicious as what I’d imagine beignets from Café du Monde would be. You see, Beau’s family were once part of the prestige of New Orleans too but with a reckless great-great (not sure how many greats) grandfather, their branch fell off that money tree. What he sets out to do is to make the Fortier name mean something again and getting tangled up with his landlords’ seventeen year old daughter wouldn’t make the best sense. So while an inexplicable connection is there, Beau pushes Lauren’s advances away. In turn breaking her heart. A heart that has been trained with ten years’ worth of pep talks to harden around Beau. But hey, as Selena Gomez said—the heart wants what it wants. And Lauren LeBlanc’s heart only truly beats when it comes to Beau Fortier.

The Beau & The Belle needs to be picked up by Hollywood because ya’ll…. This was pure entertainment. 100% gold with clusters of diamonds all around it. With its delightful characters and their witty banter, you will find yourself much like I did—holding on to your bellies, howling with laughter. I’m addicted to R.S. Grey’s writing. She is sugar that I can’t ever quit. Sorry Keto, sorry no sugar diets—we will never be. I wholeheartedly and thoroughly enjoyed every moment with Lauren and Beau and with Ms. Grey’s writing. This will leave you with a softened heart and an even bigger smile when it is all said and done. Another five star read to add to my list which most definitely has my bookshelf-worthy stamp of approval.

Melanie’s Book Shelf Worthy Review:

IMG_5117.JPGProfound. That’s the exact word I’d use to describe A.L. Jackson’s latest release, Follow Me Back. This is the second installment to her standalone series, Fight for Me and its story line is the very definition of fighting for someone. I love that Ms. Jackson brought into light not only love in the romantic sense but also an unconditional love between a mother and her child. I’m not going to lie, I found myself ugly crying big crocodile tears during certain moments. The tears didn’t come from sadness but instead came from deep within. I felt like if my heart could speak it would say exactly what was written in this book. I wish.. Oh, how I wish I could express the way it affected me so much better than I’m trying to now. But I think the best way that you can understand and feel what I did is to pick up this book yourself. You will be immersed in it, no doubt.

Harley Hope Masterson is one hell of a woman. She is insanely brave and she is so wonderfully loving. After having been burned by her ex-husband, Hope has distanced herself from any chance at falling in love. Raising her eight year old son, Evan who is the very center of her universe is her only concern. The power behind Hope’s love for her beautiful son, Evan and Evan’s sweet, sweet love for his mom shook me to the core. During such a sensitive time in my life, their relationship just meant the world to me. It spoke of everything I would be willing to do for my own son and all of that emotion compounded. It cursed through me, hitting me right smack to the gut and straight through my heart. If there was ever a moment where I had to vote for a “best mom in the fictional world” award, it would go to Hope… Hands down. So being the best mom in the world means that she deserves the best kind of love too right??

Well, lo and behold… Dr. Kale Bryant. No A.L. Jackson fictional book boyfriend has given me shameless tingles since Jared flippin’ Holt from her Come to Me series. Let me tell you, what started out as tingles quickly escalated to out of control tremors. This guy is pure, PURE unadulterated sex on a stick. I loved how confident he was about himself—there’s a fine line between cocky arrogance and sexy confidence and this guy was ALL sexy confidence to the tee. However, behind his easy demeanor lay a shattered heart. Having lost someone so tragically and suddenly, Kale has shut himself out for a chance at love too. It isn’t until a gorgeous red head comes into his life that his broken heart begins to glue itself back together. The instant and easy chemistry between them sent a delicious thrill to my lady bits. These two together, burned through the pages. Trust me when I say that you’ll be fanning yourself silly.

Follow Me Back affected me in such a profound way. A. L. Jackson is known to deliver emotional love stories and I’m an avid fan who is very familiar with the sorts of emotions she’s able to incite out of her readers but quite frankly, I have to admit that I was taken so completely off guard by how much this jarred me. I loved, LOVED this book so, so much. This was my first 2018 read and also became my very favorite A.L. Jackson book to date. I felt this book from my head to my toes. A five star + read that has my bookshelf worthy stamp of approval. Bravo to you Ms. Jackson for going into this new year already setting hearts ablaze.

EXCERPT

I watched him stride across the café toward the door, hating the way everything tightened when he did.

His or mine, I wasn’t sure.

But it was there.

Heavy.

Pressing on my heart.

I couldn’t stop from watching him through the big windows as he started down the sidewalk, the man a scorching silhouette in the blaze of the day.

But he didn’t climb into his car that was parked at the curb.

He began to pace.

A pace that looked like indecision and turmoil.

Back and forth right on the other side of the window.

His head tilted back toward the sky, as if it might hold an answer, before he set his coffee and the lollipops down on one of the open tables, dug in his pocket, and pulled out his phone.

“You’re an idiot,” Jenna hissed from beside me. “That guy likes you, and he’s literally the hottest thing to ever walk through that door. And he bought All. The. Lollipops.”

Maybe that was part of the problem.

“I don’t get simple,” was my response.

“What if he doesn’t want simple?”

I would have answered her, told her that in the end, everyone did. They always took the easy way out when the going got tough. Except the café phone rang. I moved for it, thankful for the distraction, something to keep my feet from rounding the counter and running after him.

Because what the hell would that accomplish?

I lifted the receiver from the wall and pressed it to my ear. “A Drop of Hope. How can I help you?”

“Go out with me.” His gravelly voice echoed through the line.

A surprised sound whispered from my lips, and Kale was suddenly at the window, his face pressed to the glass, hand shading his eyes so he could see inside. His other hand was holding his cell to his ear. “Go out with me, Hope. Just dinner. Because I can’t fucking stop thinking about you. Couldn’t after I saw you the first time at Olive’s on Friday night. It only got worse after I saw you here Monday morning. I don’t know what it is about you . . . but there’s something that makes me want to figure it out.”

My breaths were hard pants, my heart a jackhammer in my chest. “My life’s complicated, Kale.”

“And I’m offering you a night away from it. Don’t you at least deserve that?”

I wanted to beg him, what then? What happened if I fell for that smirk and that smile and those tender eyes?

Fast and hard?

I could already feel myself slipping. My heart tipping his direction.

What happened if Dane found out?

What then?

But I was so tired of that man controlling every aspect of my life, even after I’d made the decision to cut him from it.

Jenna was suddenly in my face, gripping my wrist, her voice a hard, demanding whisper. “You tell him yes, Harley Hope. Don’t you dare hang up that phone without telling him yes. You deserve something just for you. Just for you.”

Indecision swarmed, questions and worries and want.

But it was the feeling balled in my stomach that trembled the floor beneath my feet.

The urge to reach out and touch on the beauty and tenderness that swam in his eyes. To discover if it was real.

The throb of desire that begged, a whisper in my ear that goaded—just one touch.

The hidden need to feel those hands skating my flesh.

I guessed I’d thought I’d never crave that again, my life fulfilled, my spirit content in knowing I was living for what was right.

Jenna squeezed tighter, my bossy best friend mouthing the word as she angled her head with the demand. “Say yes.”

It was at the same second Kale fisted his hand against the window, his forehead rocking against it, his own words a petition. “Come on, Hope. Say yes. I promise you, you won’t regret it.”

A hint of playfulness came out on the last, but it didn’t matter, because I was agreeing.

“Yes,” I murmured, wanting to feel something good even though I wasn’t so much a fool that I didn’t know I was making a mistake. That in the end, it wouldn’t hurt.

Because it already felt as if this mattered.

As if he mattered.

“Okay. One night. Just dinner,” I reiterated.

He breathed out in what sounded like relief. “Just dinner.”

As if anything could ever be as simple as that.

BOOK REVIEW: Hidden Seams by Alessandra Torre

unnamedA billion-dollar fashion empire, and it’s about to be mine…

I’ve worked a decade for this. I’ve sold my soul and my reputation. I’ve lived a lie, smiled for the cameras, and hated myself, all for this fortune.

And then … she pops up. A mysterious heir with a rap sheet, combat boots, and a mouth that I want to pin shut with my—
It doesn’t matter. I’ve played this game for a decade. I can continue the charade a little longer, keep my hands to myself and her body out of my mind. I can keep my secret until the ink dries and everything is mine.

Or not.

Melanie’s 5-Star Review:

Alessandra Torre’s latest release takes you into the world of high fashion and with it you immediately find yourself embroiled in a world of lies, lust, and love. Ms. Torre has once again delivered such a unique plot line, something that has become her signature touch. Mystified, you’ll be turning the pages and won’t be able to put it down. Hidden Seams is addictive with a hefty dose of sex appeal.

Avery found a special place in my heart from the very start. Adopted by a conservative couple who lived to maintain a perfect image, Avery finds herself rebelling against them to break away from the life she loathes. She longs to find her biological parents in hopes to find herself. I felt for her. For this massive hole she longed to fill. Armed only with a faded, old photograph of her biological father, she sets foot on a journey to find him. Who she finds instead is Marco Lent, a well known gay model turner designer but better known as the longtime gay partner of the famous Vince Horace.

What seems to be the perfect ploy turns into Marco’s greatest enemy. The lies make him hungry and from the moment he encounters Avery, he decides that she’d make for the perfect meal. One taste and his neatly sewn life quickly begins to unravel. The chemistry between Marco and Avery is hot! There’s this desperation and hunger that will set your thighs clenching, your blood pressure sky rocketing.

This was an absolute great read. One that will pose a huge problem if you have things to do and sleep to catch up on because I’ll tell you now. One hit and you’ll become an addict. Amazing job once again, Ms. Torre. You’ve got me hooked.

Never Be The Same- Camila Cabello

BOOK REVIEW: Complicated by Kristen Ashley

IMG_4734When small town Nebraska sheriff Hixon Drake meets Greta Dare, the connection couldn’t be stronger, but the timing couldn’t be worse.
Dealing with the fallout of a divorce he never wanted and setting up a new home for his kids, Hix becomes that guy, that one he never wanted to be, and puts a stop to things before they can even start. Protecting his kids, and himself, is his only priority.
Greta, on the other hand, has found the place for her and the brother she adores that’s perfect for them—a sleepy little town in Nebraska. She’s learned from life that there are no hopes and dreams. The only thing to look forward to is peace. And that’s what she works hard to build for herself and her brother. Right up until Hix walks into her life.
Hix can’t fight the pull and stay away from Greta for long. And Greta’s finding it hard not to hope for something more with all the promise that is Hix.
But when the first murder that’s happened in over five decades rocks his small, sleepy county, Hix has got to learn to trust again, convince Greta to take a shot with him, and at the same time catch a killer.
In other words, things are definitely…Complicated.

Melanie’s 4.5 Star Review:

As with all Kristen Ashley books, she sweeps you away in the intense romance brewing between her characters. In Complicated, we meet Hix a recently divorced father of 3 and also the town’s Sheriff. Admired by both genders of the population, Hix finds himself in a precarious situation when he falls in love with Greta Dare. Ms. Dare, a divorcee herself seems too glamorous for this small town. With luxurious hair, stylish clothes, gorgeous face, and a beautiful voice, she proves that her heart is even more attractive than her looks. Both finding themselves in surprising and uncharted territories, they navigate through it together in a way that only KA can write about. Complicated is a swoon worthy love story that is sure to set you heart on fire.

I love how candid both Hix and Greta are with each other from the get go. Knowing just how complicated it would get if they both pursued what was happening between them, they try their hardest to break off the connection that seems to naturally tether them to one another. It doesn’t take very long for them to realize the impossibility of staying away. I have to say that aside from KA’s Honey series, Complicated has got to be one of her hottest yet. I swear, I will never look at a head board the same way again. If I’ve made you curious about it, then I highly suggest you buy yourself a copy and find out for yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret it. In fact, you’ll love it. The passion that swirls around Hix and Greta is undeniable—it’s both profound and exciting. These are just some of the things I love about picking up a Kristen Ashley book. She makes you believe that even the most impossible is possible when it comes to love.

There are some elements of suspense and mystery entwined into the plot line as well which had me at the edge of my seat wanting to know who did it and why. I do wish there was a bit more closure than what was given about it but I also enjoyed the way it all came back to full circle. I’m so glad that the Ms. Ashley decided to release this once Audible exclusive novel into both digital and print because Hix and Greta’s love story was meant not only to be heard but to be lived through the pages too.

About the Author:

Kristen AshleyKristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).
