Tycoon, an all-new standalone from Katy Evans is available now!!!

Tycoon Amazon

He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult.

Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me.

That man is gone.

In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.

He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman.

The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.

It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.

I didn’t expect him to offer it easily.

And he doesn’t.

Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone.

Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says.

He’s assessing every piece of me, to the point I’ve never felt so bare.

I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me.

Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself.

Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking.

Melanie’s 3.5 Star Review:

Katy Evan’s Tycoon reminded me of what clawing desperation feels like. A need that could only be alleviated by that one person who is as essential as your next breath. So much of the clawing want between the two characters were reminiscent of what I loved so much about Ms. Evan’s Real series. So much of what Aaric and Bryn were to each other and their intense connection took me back to what it was that made me first take notice of this author’s work.

Aaric Christos and Bryn Kelly find themselves reunited 14 years after being apart. From the moment that Aaric lays his eyes on Bryn those many years ago, he knew that she was the one. With the timing and their young age being huge factors, Bryn instead became the one who got away. Given a second chance to make her dreams come true, Aaric who has become Manhattan’s real estate and investment tycoon makes sure that this time around, he will do everything in his power to hold on to the woman of his dreams. Bryn definitely doesn’t make it easy for Christos. While both have built walls around them for fear of getting hurt, it felt as if Bryn’s was impenetrable—built impossibly high with no chance of being scaled. I have to say that there were lots of moments, especially during the first half of this book that left a bitter taste in my mouth. I was frustrated during a number of moments with Bryn because of her indecisiveness. Many times the reasoning behind the cat and mouse game between them just didn’t make sense to me. Jagged and disconnected, I had to put down my Kindle a few times to give myself some time to gather my wits about it because I just couldn’t wrap my head around it.

This book was a definite hate, love for me. While the first half of this book seemed to drag, I couldn’t quite get enough once the goodness got going. The moment that it finally clicks for Bryn to give into what her heart truly desired was the defining book moment for me too. You see, the animalistic, primal chemistry that existed between them truly did leave me breathless. I felt the lust, the need, and the love down to my bones. I reveled in everything that Bryn and Christos had to offer each other. I loved how hot they were for one another and most especially, I loved the gentleness and the reverence between them. Oh my, my… it was like opening a can of Pringles. Once you pop, you can’t stop and I didn’t want it to stop even when it had to end.

So while Tycoon started on a rough patch for me, there is absolutely still no question in my mind that Katy Evan’s is a romance mastermind. Her characters and their love stories will always, always be ones I will pick up—no questions asked… No blurbs or sexy covers needed. Knowing that it was written by her is enough for me. If you looking for a passionate love affair with tons of ups and downs then Tycoon is definitely one you’ll want as your next read.

Unthinkable (I’m Ready)- Alicia Keys

Excerpt:

I hop off the train and walk several walks to his building.

It’s a brownstone in Park Avenue, one of the most elite of the elite spaces in town.

My lungs feel a little bit overworked from awe as I head up the steps to the double doors, grateful that I came dressed to kill in a little black dress, a jacket, and pumps. Simple, but effective.

See, I may be feeling a little awkward, but at least I don’t look it.

I’m greeted by his maid. She’s dressed in black and white, her hair drawn back in a neat bun, her expression stoic and formal as she leads me down the hall to a gorgeous study.

I catch my breath when I notice all the books and shelves.

It’s like a reader’s paradise in here. There’s a sleek chrome bar, a modern mahogany glass-topped desk, and two huge whiskey-colored leather chairs that almost swallow me up when I’m instructed to wait in one.

I drum my fingers, inhaling the scent of leather and wine, remembering a guy I knew with his mechanic navy-blue uniform, black streaks on his jaw, his big nose always the first thing you’d see, which was a pity because he had beautiful eyes and a really sinful pair of lips.

He’s living in luxury now. Wow. Good for him.

I hear footsteps approaching and the little hair on my arms prick at attention. My head turns as a tall, dark figure steps into the room, and the most intimidating guy I’ve ever seen enters and crosses the room toward the desk. He walks like he’s the shit…his strides proud and composed, elegant and powerful.

Christos, I hear myself breathe in surprise.

He’s so tall now…six three, at least. Dirty-blonde hair, gold-green eyes, chiseled jaw, and a gorgeous profile.

All in black, he looks very much a New Yorker.

He’s wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black turtleneck beneath the jacket…

I stare at him, my jaw hanging a little bit open. The man is….all man. Testosterone. Muscles. Height. Width. My chest hurts all of a sudden because I realize…

The boy you knew is gone.

I force myself to stand. “Thank you for seeing me.”

He heads to the bar to pour two drinks, then he prowls over, takes the whiskey leather chair across from mine and leans forward, pushing a glass of cognac with one finger across a small table, toward me.

And he waits.

In silence.

But my stomach dips as if he’d said something ultra-sexy and decadent.

“You might not remember me, I’m sorry to be reaching out like this,” I say, nervous.

“What do you want?”

There’s a pleasant shiver as he speaks. Recognition of his voice, even though it’s far deeper than I remember.

“I was told you sometimes invest in startups.”

“I’d say more than sometimes.” He raises his eyebrows as if I should’ve done my homework better.

Ugh, Bryn! Focus! Be SMART! Make yourself and your business irresistible! A silence settles as he eyes me, slowly setting his drink down as he leans forward and finally, unexpectedly, smiles. At me.

It’s just a smile.

But the world tilts under its impact.

“Hello, little bit.” Amusement touches his gaze as he tilts his head and watches me. “You know, I’d think you’d have grown up the ten-plus years since I last saw you. At least an inch.” He leans back in his seat, seemingly displeased. Wow, this guy is not the lanky kid I knew once. This guy oozes danger.

Every ounce of “boy” is gone. Oh God. For a moment I wish that we could go back in time and I could discuss my startup with the guy I knew before.

But time travel is not really my talent, and it seems like I have yet to see if I even have any special talents at all—depending on what this guy thinks.

“I grew two in width,” I shock myself saying.

He laughs then, his eyes drinking me in openly.

“Shame on you, you’re not trying to see if it’s true?” I ask him, frowning now.

He shrugs casually, his lips curved at the corners. “I can’t help it. Something has to have changed.”

“Why?”

“Because nothing good ever lasts. Even you, little bit.” A smile touches those unforgettable gold-green eyes.

A shiver runs through me. Because…

Christos recognized me.

“I can tell you’re as incorrigible as ever.” I shake my head, but I’m smiling, truly just relieved that he recognized me.

“I try to be,” he purrs dangerously.

I’m feeling warm all of a sudden. I can’t believe I’m staring at him so much, but it’s like I cannot take my eyes away. He looks achingly familiar, but at the same time, so different I cannot help but stare and track the differences in his features. The way his jaw squared out even more, the way his body filled out with hard, lean muscles that shift and ripple beneath his expensive designer clothes. I cannot believe that this is a guy I knew once.

He seems to silently be taking in my changes too, his keen stare allowing me to see that he seems to approve of it all. Even the dress I’m wearing. “You changed enough for the both of us,” I blurt.

“Really. How so?” he asks.

“You grew into your nose.”

“Really?” He chuckles as if despite himself.

“Width and height too. Quite a bit,” I add.

“Anything else,” he prods, one eyebrow rising.

“You learned how to dress.”

He looks down at his black suit. “This old thing?” He grins, then shifts forward, sobering up. “What can I do for you, Bryn? Considering I’m rather surprised to see you here, I’m eager for you to satiate my curiosity.” His stare becomes keen.

“So am I. I didn’t expect to be here,” I admit, and for a moment when I look into his eyes, all I see is someone I’ve seen before. Someone who belonged in my life long ago. “You know when you had that misplaced crush on me and told me one day I’d know what it felt like to throw pebbles at someone’s window wanting them to open? I’m sort of throwing rocks here.”

“Not to sing me a love song,” he says flatly, his eyes shuttering.

“No. Well, you know that was never….I mean…” Don’t bring up your rejection of him, Bryn! “It’s for something better. Business.”

“Go on.”

“I knew that’d get you.” I smile privately. “So it’s true your love is money now.”

“She gives back what I put in. Though her ass isn’t as juicy as I like,” he says nonchalantly.

“Wow. No matter how polished you look, your mouth is still as crude as ever.”

“Thank you,” he purrs, his eyes grinning at me.

I laugh. Then I sober up and realize he’s waiting for me to speak. “I’m looking for money for my startup,” I say.

“How much.”

“One hundred thousand.”

“I don’t invest less than a million.” He twirls his whiskey in his glass, eyeing the liquid.

“Well then, I’ll ask for a million.”

He raises his brows, setting his glass down. “It’s not how much you want to ask for, it’s how much the company’s worth.” Eyebrows up, he skewers me with a cold, intimidating look.

“It’ll be worth more than a million, trust me,” I bluff.

“Good for you. Except…” he leans back with a rustle of clothes, every athletic inch of his black-clad body flowing sinuously like a feline with the move, “considering that has yet to happen and I’ll need to trust you on that, my trust needs to be earned.”

This version of Christos is even more intimidating than the old one, unfortunately.

I try to hide it, keeping my voice as level as possible. “How does one earn your trust?”

“I’d tell you if I were interested, but I’m not exactly sure that I am.” He eyes me as if debating in silence.

This guy is the only guy in the world that unnerves me in this way, and I can’t seem to slow the fast pounding of my heart in my chest as I try to remember what I came here to say.

“I have a full presentation for you. I’m not taking no for an answer.” I reach into my briefcase.

“Darling. Are you ready?”

I start at the female voice and glance at a gorgeous woman striding into the study. Christos continues looking at me as he stands and reaches for the cell phone the woman extends out.

“We’re done here,” he answers her as he pockets the phone, his gaze remaining on me.

“I’ll wait for you in the car.” She leans up and kisses his jaw, her hands proprietary on his chest, then sends me a woman-to-woman claiming look, before she swishes away, all glittering jewels and lean body.

There’s a silence as he approaches, and for a second all I can hear is the sound of a toilet flushing, taking my only opportunity with a possible investor away.

“I’ll think about it,” he says.

“Christos.”

“I said I’ll think about it,” he says from the door.

“Please do,” I say as he exits the room. I cup the sides of my mouth, “I’ll be back tomorrow. Same time?” I say jokingly.

I’m surprised when I hear footsteps returning. He pauses when our eyes meet. “I’ll make contact,” he says, raising his eyebrows meaningfully, “If I’m interested in hearing more.” He nods. “Nice to see you, Bryn.”

“Nice to see you. Christos.”

Well, that went sort of awful.

BOOK REVIEW: The Story of Us by Tara Sivec

31454532.jpg1,843 days. That’s how long I survived in that hellhole. They tried to break me, but I resisted. And I owe it all to the memory of warm summer nights, the scent of peaches, and the one woman who loved me more than I ever deserved to be loved. Now, I’ll do anything to get back to her.

Only Shelby Eubanks isn’t the girl I left behind all those years ago. She’s someone else, a stranger. My Shelby-my little green-eyed firecracker-would never give up her dreams, would never disappear into her mother’s ambitions. But I won’t give up on her. On us. I may be broken, and scarred, and not the man I used to be, but I will do whatever it takes to remind her of the story of us.

Melanie’s 4.5-Star Review:

image1 (1).JPG

The Story of Us is an emotionally gripping second chance story not only of love but of life. This is my first Tara Sivec book and definitely won’t be the last. When I decided to give this book a go, I went in simply out of a praiseworthy recommendation from a favorite author of mine and I am so glad that I did. From the very second that I began reading Eli and Shelby’s story, I knew that it would be the sort that would bring me to tears and I found that I was not wrong. A journey of re-discovery and redemption for two unforgettable characters, this novel is going to own you the whole way through.

While there were times that I felt the story line echoed the same chorus, I do feel that the author may have wanted to reiterate certain points and the importance of them. It could have been that I was just too impatient to find out how the story would unfold, but it made me ache for more of a dialogue between the characters. With that, I have to say I loved that Ms. Sivec gave us a glimpse into the past through Eli’s letters to Shelby. I felt every single one of them and made me desperate for their reunion. First loves and second chance romances are my kryptonite and The Story of Us hit all the high notes. The connection that Eli and Shelby had was one to be envied and with the countless number of challenges that they both had to endure just to hold on to their relationship alone made it impossible to deny how much they loved each other. I mean, giving up their own happiness for the sake of protecting the other? If that’s not selfless love, I don’t know what is.

I was anchored to these characters. I felt their pain and their heartache and gloried in their happiest times. I thought that Eli was as genuine and as sweet as book boyfriends come. Having gone through what he had and losing so many years of his life as well as losing so many important people in his life… I don’t know how he managed to be a rock for Shelby during her times of weakness. But the best part of this story is that Shelby herself becomes nothing short of a savior for Eli as well. I loved that as broken as they were as individuals, they remained strong for one another. The Story of Us is a stark reminder of what an unselfish love looks like.

Though time and time again I found myself wiping away tears of sympathy, the ultimate prize for Eli and Shelby came as proof that if you hold on tight to those that mean the most to you, all the pain and hardships become nothing more than a reminder of life’s greatest gifts. The gift of unconditional love and happy endings.  The Story of Us touched me in ways I cannot explain into words but if my emotions could somehow be transferred on to this review, it would say it all. I would recommend this book to just about everyone who believes in the promise and the power of love.

Think About You- Leon

Hey you, are you asleep?
I wonder if you’re out, if you are drinking
It’s late, I know
But baby I ain’t wasted
Can’t you call me

[Pre-Chorus]
Can’t get along, can’t be alone
Where’s your mind at?
Are you on your own?
You’re falling out, I’m falling back
Where’s your heart at?
Don’t you feel alone?

[Chorus]
Tell me would you give us one more try?
‘Cause I, I think about (ooh), I think about you
Heavy-hearted, trouble on my mind
‘Cause I, I think about (ooh), I think about you

[Verse 2]
Your words, they burn
I read it twice, the way you write is different
You’re cold, and it’s cruel
Acting like I am someone that you never knew

[Pre-Chorus]
Can’t get along, can’t be alone
Where’s your mind at?
Are you on your own?
You’re falling out, I’m falling back
Where’s your heart at?

I’ve tried, but a heart don’t lie
Don’t you remember?
‘Cause I remember

About THE FARTHEST EDGE (Erotic Romance Releasing June 6, 2017):

Step into the Honey Club, where every sensual boundary will be tested in search of the ultimate pleasure…

Branch doesn’t exist. Living off the grid, he’s looking for a way to forget his past and the guilt that plagues him. But no woman has ever been able to bring him to the edge he craves.

After a traumatic experience of her own, Evangeline stepped away from the decadent world of the Honey Club. But when she gets Branch’s offer—to play without boundaries or commitments—it’s too tempting for her to refuse.

As their passion ignites, Evangeline and Branch push each other to their farthest limit, fulfilling their darkest desires while falling harder and deeper than they ever imagined.

Melanie’s 5-Star Review:

unnamedThe second installment in Kristen Ashley’s Honey series brought back KA’s signature style mixed with what I’d loved most about The Deep End.

A provocative and authentic look into the world of BDSM filled with a heavy dose of swoon and romance. In The Farthest Edge, we are re-introduced to Amelie’s friend Evangeline. If you’d read the first book in this series you’d remember that she underwent  quite a traumatic experience at the place she thought to be her safe haven. Little did she know that her safe haven would come in the form of a haunted, brooding man who would lay his own life to protect hers.

I loved the connection between Branch and Evangeline and not just in the bedroom or the playrooms either. These two were so good for one another’s soul. Set up by Aryas the owner of The Honey Club, he knew from the start that they would be one another’s salvation and boy was he ever right. Now why can’t we all have a naughty Fairy Godfather like him?! There was a vulnerability that lurked behind Branch and Evangeline. Both carrying pasts that in some way have shaped who they have become. Their awareness for each other’s feelings and needs ran deep. This to me showed such tenderness and genuine respect for one another. Trust is a huge aspect in the kind of relationship they share and for Branch to have been betrayed in his past costing loved ones their lives, it takes an infinite amount for him to open up to anyone let alone allow anyone to become a part of his life. I thought that they made the perfect match because of the experiences that they both share. They are able to relate and understand the demons that lurk just around the corner.

If you’d asked me before reading this series if I’d ever get turned on by a male sub and a woman Dom, I’d have surely and quickly told you, “no way.” But the thing about Kristen Ashley is this… She creates the absolute best alpha subs out of her heroes. Branch is the perfect example of this. The thigh clench was undeniably present throughout the entire book. Holy smokes, the heat blazed and it burned me to a crisp. I am in awe of the fact that she was able to turn such a preconceived notion into ash.

The Farthest Edge had a softness to such a sexy story line. While you’d think that the BDSM world could only be filled with kink (though there is that), it is also so much more. Kristen Ashley opens your eyes to discover that this world holds so much more. I loved this book and I most especially loved that it brought back the KA style that I’d fallen quickly in love with after reading my 1st book of hers. It’s a pleasant and comforting reminder that while she pushes the limits with something new and distinct, she keeps intact everything that KA fanatics like me have become obsessed with. So keep the good things going, Ms. Ashley because I along with many others will surely be coming for more.

Excerpt:

He knew this was her playroom before he’d entered but right then he saw that she didn’t hide it under

sheets and tarps, just behind the shutters.

Branch shifted the light around, seeing a horse, a bench, a table, all of them good quality. It cost a mint

to outfit a good playroom and she didn’t make do. She’d been investing. Making smart purchases that

would look good, stand strong during play and last a while.

Fashionable sink in the corner set in an attractive wood vanity, two matching tall, slim cupboards on

each side.

He moved there, looked through the vanity and cupboards. Thick towels. Washcloths. Wet wipes. Soap.

Bottles of foam anti-bacterial. Cleaning supplies. A large box of condoms. A little basket filled with some

cosmetics—powder, lipsticks, gloss. Another filled with first-aid supplies—Band-Aids, bottles of

antiseptic, tubes of ointment, gauze, cotton.

He closed the door to the cupboard he was inspecting, turned and shined the light around the room.

Moving across the space, he noted hooks on the walls, in the ceiling, eyes in the floor, all looking sturdy.

Whoever put them in might have wondered why or he’d been hers. But whoever that was knew what

they were doing.

There was a tall cabinet and a large dresser across the room, both in the wood that made up the vanity

and the cupboards. It all matched, was heavy and dark but attractive, giving the space the definite feel

of playroom, not a dungeon. It was stylish and handsome, even warm, somewhere you’d want to stay

awhile.

He didn’t think on his last thought as he opened the top cupboard doors of the cabinet and shined the

light in, feeling what he found there in his dick.

Cats. Whips. Switches. Flogs. Paddles. Some straps. Some harnesses. All hanging from hooks. All well

organized and well maintained. All also excellent quality. Not many, but again, quality, not quantity, was

what she was clearly going for.

He closed the doors and crouched down to the two drawers at the bottom of the cabinet, opening

them. Top one had silk ropes, some chains, shackles, cuffs. The bottom drawer was full of leather straps

with cinches attached.

Branch straightened, moved to the dresser. Nothing littered the top, so he opened the first drawer.

What he found there made his balls draw up.

Carefully placed in what looked like purple silk-lined, custom-made grooves were her toys.

Plugs. Cocks. Vibrators. The first two in an impressive range of lengths, girths and shapes. If they had

them, remotes were placed at the side of the toy they controlled. There was also a complicated cock

ring, rabbit ears at the front for clit stimulation, and a strap that would lead between the balls to a bullet

that could be inserted in the anus, all of it obviously vibrated—triple the fun.

She like ass.

Not many of her kind didn’t.

He didn’t think on that either.

About Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorizeand she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

BOOK REVIEW: Shacking Up by Helena Hunting

33838194Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.

Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.

Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from NYT and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

Melanie’s 4.5 Star Review:

unnamed

Yes, yes, yes!!! Shacking Up by Helena Hunting had the perfect dose of heat, romance, and laugh out loud humor to make for one heck of an addicting read. Once I got my hands on it, there was no putting it down. Today’s droopy eyes and incessant yawns are so well worth it, no doubt about it. I loved, loved the flirtatious feel from start to finish. It made me giddy and put a huge smile to my face – it all just made me feel so good.
From the very moment that Ruby and Bancroft bump into one another and accidentally land on each other’s’ mouths and tongues, the adventure only gets better and better. With the way that life has been throwing curve balls at Ruby, she didn’t expect one to actually knock her on her butt. Meeting Bancroft sets the wheels into motion, altering both their lives in the most unexpected yet the best kind imaginable. Ruby’s dream to make it big on stage, takes a disastrous turn when she bombs one audition after another leaving her homeless with a maxed out credit line. Going back to Rhode Island to become one of her dad’s pharmaceutical minions isn’t an option for her and with her bestie’s help, she lands a gig as a pet sitter for her bestie’s fiancée’s cousin. As luck would have it, Ruby finds herself pet sitting for Bancroft himself. The relationship that blossoms between them was amazeballs. Their teasing and the flirting just revved up each other’s engines and when it finally got going, they took off at 100 mph speeds. Holy wow, were the hottie tottie scenes SCORCHING flippin’ HOT!
An ex-rugby player with a name like Bancroft and a nickname like Baine, there was no way that this guy could be anything but naughty and dirty in bed. He did not disappoint. OMG you guys, I love, LOVE dirty talkers and he was the master of it. Every single moment that these two burned through the pages, they highhandedly singed every thread on my dang panties. Not only does he take very good care of Ruby under the sheets but he does so in all other aspects as well. He is protective and caring and so utterly sweet—I couldn’t handle the sighs that left my mouth.
I totally enjoyed this book. Though there were times when I just wanted to skip through certain parts to get to the ultimate prize. I just knew that once these two crashed together, the explosion would be vast and wild. And I was so on the money. Ack!!! I still can’t get over them. I guarantee that you will love this book as much as I did. Helena Hunting did such a great job with putting in every single element that I look for in a book. Shacking Up had me shackled from start to finish. This one is a surefire winner! Make sure to pick it up today.

We Like It Big Tunes:

Say You Won’t Let Go- James Arthur

I met you in the dark, you lit me up
You made me feel as though I was enough
We danced the night away, we drank too much
I held your hair back when
You were throwing up
Then you smiled over your shoulder
For a minute, I was stone-cold sober
I pulled you closer to my chest
And you asked me to stay over
I said, I already told ya
I think that you should get some rest
I knew I loved you then
But you’d never know
‘Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go
I know I needed you
But I never showed
But I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
I’ll wake you up with some breakfast in bed
I’ll bring you coffee with a kiss on your head
And I’ll take the kids to school
Wave them goodbye
And I’ll thank my lucky stars for that night
When you looked over your shoulder
For a minute, I forget that I’m older
I wanna dance with you right now
Oh, and you look as beautiful as ever
And I swear that everyday you’ll get better
You make me feel this way somehow
I’m so in love with you
And I hope you know
Darling your love is more than worth its weight in gold
We’ve come so far my dear
Look how we’ve grown
And I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
I wanna live with you
Even when we’re ghosts
‘Cause you were always there for me when I needed you most
I’m gonna love you till
My lungs give out
I promise till death we part like in our vows
So I wrote this song for you, now everybody knows
‘Cause now it’s just you and me till we’re grey and old
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
Oh, just say you won’t let go

Melanie’s 5-Star Review:

18446735_834697163353768_7050315529418488371_nThe end to every beloved series is always bittersweet, there’s no question about that. However, what rabid fans could only hope for is that the finale is the sort that the characters deserve. So for fans of the Bleeding Stars series, I am here to tell you that Ms. Jackson not only delivered but delivered it fiercely. In Stand we get to see a new side to A.L. Jackson’s writing. She hooks you with intrigue and keeps you wanting for more. I didn’t expect such a suspenseful story line but from the get go, Zee’s story was bound by so much secrecy and mystery. My heart was pulsing erratically, my palms sweating, and my mind going a hundred miles an hour trying to figure out Zee’s truth. It was a losing battle, impatiently begging for the pages to go by faster to reveal all the secrets wide open and at the same time hopelessly wanting the pages to slow so that I could relish the book just that much longer to avoid accepting the inevitable fact that Stand is the last of this heart tugging series.

Zee and Alexis had a powerful start to their story—quite reminiscent to that of Ash and Willow’s actually. There was this tangible connection that tethered them from the very first moment they’re introduced. A strange familiarity that caused both their walls to crumble – easily, effortlessly, extraordinarily.  I loved, loved Alexis. I loved how genuinely open she was about her feelings for Zee; always choosing to live and squashing down all her fears. She was all in, leaving behind any uncertainty and for me this was a breath of fresh air, something I always seem to crave from heroines.

With Zee’s world being surrounded by so much ambiguity, Alexis was exactly the kind of woman that he needed to fight for him. She was there to remind him of life’s meaning and to lead him to re-discover who he is. After losing Mark, Zee also lost himself. He harbored so much guilt and he felt the only way for him to atone for his sins was to protect his brother’s living legacy—Sunder. Stepping up to take over his brother’s place in the band as their drummer, he forgets to find happiness for himself, believing that he didn’t deserve a happy ending if Mark couldn’t have his. My heart broke for Zee so many times during this book. Having such a strong bond with my own siblings, I couldn’t help but empathize. I deeply felt his loss and the pain that came with it. So when the sun began to shine during his days and the stars began to glitter with promises of wishes coming true, my heart bloomed right alongside the love that blossomed between Alexis and Zee.

The last few lines of this book just about undid me. My throat bobbed heavily, tears prickled at the corners of my eyes, and goosebumps erupted across my skin.  Everything about this book just felt final because A.L. Jackson did an outstanding job with driving the entire story line in full circle. There was no stone in the sea left unturned. She made you truly feel like you were drowning to breathe both from Zee’s story alone and from sheer realization that, “OMG this is really it!” I have come to love all of the characters and their emotionally gripping journey. Every single one of them. Their stories that cause your heart to go haywire you’d swear it’s where lightning strikes. I cannot wait for you all to read this book, I guarantee you will not be disappointed one bit. These beloved characters will stay with me forever and if someone is smart enough to adapt these books into film you can bet I’d be the first one to stand in line for it. So yes, I am in utter denial as I finish up this review. I can’t imagine not ever getting a taste of the whole Sunder family again so I’m grateful for a thing called—re-reads.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ & BOOK REVIEW: Love Me In The Dark by Mia Asher

18274894_829755177181300_5655510760069979899_n

Two strangers in Paris …
One passionate, earth-shattering kiss.

He was the artist upstairs
with the tantalizing smile and laughing eyes.

He was the devil inviting me to sin,
seducing me to dance in the bright moonlight.

He was desire and need.

When he touched me, my body sang.
My soul came alive.

But I belonged to another man,
and he didn’t want to let me go.

Melanie’s 5 Star Review:

Mia Asher is the queen of love triangles. She has made this her own brand, one that cannot be replicated or compared. Love Me In The Dark is her latest release and once again she has drowned us with crippling angst and tempted us with a most sinfully sensual love story, enough to make anyone self-combust. I read this in one sitting, my heart beating wildly making it feel like it would jump straight out of my damn chest. It’s utterly addictive; a guaranteed roller coaster ride which you’ll never want to get off of. All hail the queen bee of love triangles, she has done it again with what I personally feel as her best work yet.

The level of anxiety that this book caused me was straight up, unhealthy. Though this love triangle made it easy for me to choose who our heroine would end up with, I loved that Mia threw in a healthy dose of scandal; a forbidden twist that I didn’t see coming. This to me is the ultimate prize for a masochistic reader like myself. I was both turned on and appalled. A confounding feeling much like what Valentina must have felt throughout this book. Our heroine, once a naïve, happy-go-lucky girl now looks at the mirror and doesn’t recognize herself other than being William’s trophy wife. Dressed always to impress with a list of charity galas to plan, Valentina suddenly begins to realize that the life she’d always imagined isn’t quite what she had hoped for. Working through their marital woes, she and William make plans to spend some time together in Paris. What isn’t surprising is William’s sudden change of plans when he’s needed to stay in the states for work matters. But what is surprising and as luck would have it, Valentina doesn’t go running back home instead she decides to stay in Paris to think things through and to find herself. It’s not so much what she finds in Paris but rather who.

Sebastien has felt immense loss, the kind where you’re  surviving  through life but without real purpose. The pain he feels is thunderous and worth a sheet of tears to rain down on him. Valentina and Sebastien are both stifled by the dark and it isn’t until they lay eyes on one another that the light begins to seep through the cracks. There was an inexplicable connection between them that draws them together and once they give in to this force, the light that shines on them become so blinding it set the pages on fire.

You will not be able to help but sympathize and at times empathize with the characters. You’ll fall in love with Sebastien as heart achingly easy as Valentina did. You’ll revel in the beauty behind the love and the connection that they share with one another, trusting in the promises of second chances. If I could close my eyes and wish on a falling star, I’d have wished for a bit more. Even a couple more chapters or an epilogue perhaps. I was left still hungry for more of Sebastien and Valentina. So, Ms. Asher if you are reading this I am on bended knees (Boyz II Men style) asking you to make this wish come true. Guess this is the problem all authors runs into when they’ve drugged up their readers, they’re always going to want just a bit more. Love Me In The Dark was written to evoke a myriad of emotions out of its readers and let me tell you, Mia Asher superbly delivered.

We Like It Big Tunes:

La Vie en Rose

Hold me close and hold me fast
The magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose

When you kiss me, Heaven sighs
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose

When you press me to your heart
And in a world apart
A world where roses bloom

And when you speak
Angels sing from above
Every day words
Seems to turn into love songs

Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

About the Author:

 I’m a writer, a hopeless romantic, a wanderer, a dreamer, a cynic, and a believer. And, I might be a bit crazy – but who isn’t?

I believe in happy endings however I know that not everyone is lucky enough to get one, but such is life. I think fine lines exist to be pushed and possibly crossed.
