5 (BIG) stars read
Music journalist Tru Bennett has done the impossible: capture the heart of rock-star bad boy Jake Wethers. Now they’re busy planning a wedding and navigating their new life together in the US. Of course Tru misses London and her best friend, Simone, but living happily ever after with Jake in LA is going to be great…right?
Wrong. Even the bright California sun can’t whitewash the dark side of celebrity coupledom. Greedy music execs, merciless paparazzi, and Jake’s wild past are lurking around every corner. Making matters worse, Jake announces he doesn’t want kids, which just may be a deal breaker.
Tru loves Jake more than anything. But when a devastating crisis threatens to destroy everything they’ve fought for, the couple must face the hard truth: What if, this time, love is not enough?
Let me start with this: Ding Dong the book slump is dead!! Like Terry McMillan gave Stella, Samantha Towle totally gave me my groove back and I am graciously on my knees. Thank you!
Wethering the Storm is the second installment of the Storm series where Jake and Tru finally start planning their future together but come face to face with old demons and new challenges.
Not only does Tru find herself smack down in the middle of a new home country, pressures of being a rock God’s fiance; but she also finds herself having to deal with Jake’s pasts– specifically the countless number of sexual conquests and drug abuse..
A scene that really ate at me was at a club where Tru overheard two women talking- throwing insults her way, sharing callous sexual gossip with one another.
“I got to hear the full lowdown while I was sitting on the toilet, about your activities pre-me. They didn’t know I was there..” “But I got to hear how I’m not good enough for you, and how she was going to go to the label tomorrow to offer her services to you.” – Tru
I felt her pain.. felt the insecurities and disgust. I thought the author did a great job with Tru’s character. She kept her real and put her in situations that most women in new relationships may find themselves in (maybe minus all the hot, steamy sex scenes). Tru’s character has really grown. She is tackling her problems head on and never shies away from letting her feelings be known to Jake. I felt this was a big, big change from The Mighty Storm. Whether it be because she has become more confident with herself or because she’s finally with the one she’s always meant to be with. I truly appreciated this throughout the book because there are so many heroineswho get a bad rep of having no back bones.
Jake’s character takes on a whole new level of swoon worthiness. Samantha Towle does not hold back. Ladies, in Wethering the Storm, Jake the Snake loves HARD! So hard that my heart was filled to its limits. When I pick up a book, I like to get lost in it and to fall in love with its characters. Well, I must say that I fell.. I fell far and beyond all other book boyfriends out there! The author allows the hero to make mistakes but also gives him the opportunities to make amends. It was truly a nice balance.
“There isn’t anything I won’t do for you,Tru. Nothing I won’t do to make you happy. What I feel for you… it’s limitless. There is nothing before or after you. There is only you.”– Jake
Their incredible love story surpassed my expectations. It is what made this final book a success. I experienced the entire journey with them- I laughed, I sighed, I celebrated, and (boy did) I cry alongside Jake and Tru. A mixture of emotions woke up the sleeping book whore in me.
“Then he closes his eyes, almost as if he’s in pain. Like at some level, it’s actually painful what he feels for me. I understand that, because I feel it too.”– Tru
This was a 5 star read and I hope that you all experience the goodness that is The Storm.

Mackenzie “Max” Miller has a problem. Her parents have arrived in town for a surprise visit, and if they see her dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings, they just might disown her. Even worse, they’re expecting to meet a nice, wholesome boyfriend, not a guy named Mace who has a neck tattoo and plays in a band. All her lies are about to come crashing down around her, but then she meets Cade.
Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he’s kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage. When Max approaches him in a coffee shop with a crazy request to pretend to be her boyfriend, he agrees to play the part. But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they’re forced to keep the ruse going. And the more they fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.
If you haven’t read Keeping Her yet….I suggest you read it after you read this book…it would just make more sense. To me it felt like it would be a spoiler if you read Keeping Her first.
This book starts off with Cade meeting up with Bliss & Garrick. I felt so bad for Cade… Obviously he wasn’t the one for Bliss… But, he still loves her and he’s trying to come to terms with it. seeing them together is like putting a knife through his heart.
During the visit Garrick drops a bomb on Cade! Now…all Cade wants to do is just start to distance himself from Bliss. He needs to think of himself…protect himself.
Cade pretty much considers that day to be a really bad day…
Then in walks a girl that would turn his world upside down!!! Her name is Max. She has red hair blue eyes kind of a rockabilly look & she is unlike any girl he has ever been with. Right from the start Cade was taken by her. But he also knew she was off limits.. because she had a boyfriend!! So when Max came up to his table at the coffee shop that he was at & asked him to pretend to be her boyfriend because she did not want her parents to know her current boyfriend. He said yes. That’s when Cade’s life starts to get interesting! He agrees to be Max’s boyfriend until past Thanksgiving.
Max is a broken girl… She had a lot of issues she had to deal with…family be one of them & a death of someone really close to her that she’s never really Dealt with. She build a wall up so high. Makes her a hard person to be with. She goes with guys that really won’t invest time in a relationship. Her one & only true passion is singing.
So when she meets Cade it turns her world upside down.
Max has Several jobs. She works in a tattoo Parlor & she’s a go-go dancer for Trestle a bar.
Cade goes to the bar that Max dances at with out even knowing she works their. & things start to heat up at the bar!!!
Things start to get interesting between them!
Max & Cade’s love to Aggravate each other. He calls her “Angry girl” & she calls him ” Golden boy”. But that’s the start of their attraction toward one another.
“To this day, nothing turns me on more than when a guy pulls my hair”
They share a pretty hot night with each other which scares the hell out of Max. Sends her running. Cade & Max have to overcome their fears in order to be with one another but mostly Max need to come to terms with who she really is. Break down her walls & let Cade in.
“I’ll remind you every day how amazing it feels when your body touches mine. I’ll remind you of the good times, and help you Forget the bad. I’ll remind you who you are when life has beaten you down and made you doubt it. I’ll bust down your door in the middle of the night and kiss you until you remember that your fears are just that, and they can’t control you. I’ll take my chances against your fickle heart if it means it’s mine”
It was a really good story…I really liked it. I can’t wait until the next book in the series comes out.

Garrick Taylor and Bliss Edwards managed to find their happily-ever-after despite a rather . . . ahem . . . complicated start. By comparison, meeting the parents should be an absolute breeze, right?
But from the moment the pair lands in London, new snags just keep cropping up: a disapproving mother-in-law-to-be, more than one (mostly) minor mishap, and the realization that perhaps they aren’t quite as ready for their future as they thought.
As it turns out, the only thing harder than finding love is keeping it.
I waited to read Faking It so that I read Keeping Her first..(I like to read series in order)… So, now having read Keeping Her & Faking It…I really think that this novella should be read after Faking It….Once you’ve read Faking It….you’ll understand why.
Now with that being said.
I liked this novella…but I felt that it was way to short and Kind of an Erupt ending. Like the author was leaving it open for either another book for Bliss & Garrick or maybe another novella between books in the series??
This novella starts off with Bliss & Garrick living together In Philadelphia. They have been together for a year and are engaged. Bliss & Garrick are working more than one job to pay the bills while still Actively doing what they love…Theater work!
Garrick & Bliss are getting ready to go to London to visits Garrick’s parents. And Bliss is freaking out!! Her emotions are all over the place… And Garrick is always there to reassure her and wring in her wackiness! & Bliss has alot of crazy moments in this novella!!
I love how Garrick knows how to handle Bliss… He knows when she’s about to lose it! He’s constantly reminding her how much he loves her throughout this whole book
by always proposing to her….over & over again!
“Marry Me” (I love that!)
Once Bliss & Garrick are in London we meet two of Garrick’s friends Rowland & Graham! They are funny and they love to give Garrick a hard time!
So…naturally they do what friends do when they haven’t seen each other in years… They take Bliss & Garrick to the pub! Because that’s a good idea.. Lets get drunk before Bliss meets the parents!!…lol
On the way to Garrick’s parents house… A very tipsy Bliss gets a little handsy with Garrick & things start to heat up in the back seat of the car!!…
The time has come to meet Garrick’s parents….and let’s just say….Bliss made a very grand entrance!!!..truly unforgettable!!…LOL
Garrick’s mom is the ice queen & Garrick’s dad is all business…not really the loving type.
Bliss & Garrick go through some issues while in London. But in the end… It all works out.
I just wish the author did some things differently. Like…address some issues at their engagement party….& Garrick didn’t tell Bliss about him growing up with money. I felt like he really didn’t prepare her for meeting his parents…
Overall…I love the Losing It series & I can’t wait for the next book to come out!!

Melanie’s 4.5 Star Review:
This was a refreshingly fabulous read. A novel about a girl who’d already lost so much at such an early age- the death of her mother and a normal relationship with her dad. Jess’ father, a fire chief for the city of Santa Ruiz drowns himself in work as a coping mechanism causing a gaping hole in their relationship. Despite Jess’ lack of a biological family unit, she is taken in by her neighbors, the Garcia’s. The relationship that she forms with the family is heartwarming. I loved the fact that the author gave her heroine a 2nd chance at having a sense of normalcy through this adoptive relationship. The Garcia’s have 3 children of their own- Ava the youngest of the siblings and Jess’ BFF, Luke the eldest and current firefighter, and finally Gabe, Jess’ love interest and the book’s main male character.
Jess’ and Gabe’s attraction to each other has been long standing but they’ve always suppressed their feelings because of the roles they play in each others lives. The heroine has always felt that Gabe thought of her as his little sister and never anything more. Little does she know that Gabe harbors such strong feelings for her. One night finally forces Gabe and Jess to confess those feelings to each other.
“Jess, what I’m trying to say is that you are all I think about. I want to hug you and kiss you, and love you. You may not feel the same way about me, but I had to tell you.” – Gabe
“I’m afraid that when I wake up tomorrow, this won’t be real. I feel like you’re going to wake up and realize you told your ‘kid sister’ you had feelings for her, and that you’re going to regret everything you said to me tonight.”– Jess
Gabe and Jess start a sweet romance.. Spending time getting to really know each other, loving each other, and making promises of an unbreakable life together. .
“I know I’m bringing her back to Santa Barbara; this is where I will propose to her. I will do whatever it takes to make her mine forever. I want to build a life with her: marriage, house, kids.” – Gabe
These promises of an unbreakable future, is soon tested when a devastating event occurs- a life altering tragedy so debilitating that it will take Jess and Gabe to dig down to the very bottom of their souls to mend their lives back together.
Jess escapes her hometown to North Carolina to deal with her demons . This part of the book is heart breaking- the heroine’s internal battle with herself is so poignant that I as a reader couldn’t help but want to reach out and comfort her.
It is in North Carolina that Jess meets Landon. A cocky, tortured cop who sets his eyes on her. He feels powerful connection that’s hard to ignore.
“I saw something I needed to have. Something in her eyes, in her small smile, called to me. Jessica Louise Harper would be mine.”– Landon
I believe there are very special people who come into our lives.. Those who are meant to be a part of it and those who save you even if it means never getting to be a part of it. Landon is the later. He encompasses selflessness and ultimately delivers the chance for our hero and heroine to prove exactly just how Unbreakable their love is.
What I really appreciated about this book was the the author took her time telling us a beautiful love story between Gabe and Jess. I find that many books being written these days start with angst, continue 60 chapters with angst, and finally give characters a happy ending within just the last few pages- it drives me nuts and quite frankly it leaves me feeling…. hungry. Well, let me tell you.. Rebecca Shea basically spoon fed me enough to feel a sense of just the right amount fullness. How refreshing it was for me to feel at the end of the book that I truly got the 3 course meal I had paid for. She came up with wonderful characters worth following and empathizing with.
This is the author’s debut novel. What a way to introduce herself! I cannot, cannot wait for Landon’s story. C’mon Miss Shea, let’s get that hottie’s story going! 🙂

Wow..I was in a reading slump…burnt out…some of those books that i was reading were same old…same old!… I needed some thing different. Something to pull me out of my reading slump!!…and….boy oh boy!!!! Did I get that in Hot Head!!! It was just what I needed! To jump start my reading again!!! I had a total book hangover!!! I could not put this book down! Now… I know some of you might be a little Weary of a m/m book… But The author does a fantastic job Of feeling the characters emotions. what they’re going through… How they feel while going through it.
Griff & Dante grew up together… Party together & And became firefighters together… Griff an only child…mother died in his early teen yrs. Not close to his father at all. Real reserved …Spent most of his time with Dante’s family… Griff considers Dante’s family as his second family. & they treat Griff just like he is part of the family… Just like another son. Dante comes from a big Italian family. He’s the middle child of 6…he’s cocky …Always flirting with the ladies.. Basically a man whore!!
Griff & Dante were both there At the World Trade Center on 9/11… Dante got hurt…& I think that’s when Griff started to have feelings for Dante… Started thinking differently about him. But Griff would never act on his feelings In fear of losing his best friend. So… He kept his feelings inside. Always their In the background…just being there for his best friend when ever he needed him… He thought that would be enough. 10yrs has passed since 9/11 happened & Griff is still Hiding his secret from his best friend & Dante is also hiding a secret too.. He’s broke and he needs money fast In order to save his house! And the only way for him to think of getting money fast is Internet porn!!! And who else to ask to be his partner…Is his best friend!! Now… This is where it gets hot & steamy… I mean…wow! Some of those scenes that they did were hot!!
“This Belongs to me. Only me. No one else can have it. Not even you. It’s mine. You’re mine.”
This is also part of the book where they Both start to see each other differently… Explore their emotions towards one another. & this is what I loved about the book… The conflict of the feelings they were having towards each other… And ultimately them getting together… I just loved this book… And I would definitely recommend this book to other people
