Changing Forever by Lisa De Jong Release Day Buzz

I’ve always let my past dictate my future, letting it paint a picture of exactly what I don’t want to be. Where I don’t want to end up.

Drake Chambers is as arrogant as I am stubborn. A college quarterback, a national star. I thought he was just another one of those guys … the type every girl should stay away from, but he’s carrying more than the weight of the football team on his shoulders.
He unravels the feelings and beliefs I’ve held onto for so long.
I thought we had it all figured out. Two people who’d finally found their happily ever after, but the past always has a way of sneaking into the present.
With one decision, everything changes … forever.
Melanie’s 4-star Review:

I pick a chair toward the back of the room and throw my bag on the floor before relaxing into my seat. With any luck, the professor will hand us our syllabus and send us on our way.

“Please take a seat and pull out a notebook and pencil,” the professor says from the podium. I keep my eyes on her just long enough to note that she’s not the typical buttoned-up scholar. She’s younger with long, red hair, dressed in a knee-length black dress and sandals. If nothing else, I can spend my Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings eye-fucking that toned body of hers. “I know it’s our first class, but I have a project I’d like everyone to work on. If you thought this was going to be easy, or we’d just sit here and discuss the syllabus for an hour, you might want to reevaluate your schedule.”
Okay, her fucking attitude is going to kill it for me. Shaking my head, I reach into my bag and pull out what she asked. Too bad this class is a requirement for graduation, and I can’t afford not to graduate.
“My assistant is going around with a handout for everyone. When you get it, turn to page two and read about the group project. It will be twenty-five percent of your grade this semester.” She pauses, checking to make sure she has everyone’s attention. “One last thing. I’ll let you choose your partner, but please avoid working with someone you already know. You’ll get more out of it this way.”
Great. I hate projects, and even more than that, I hate group projects. It’s hard to find the time to get together with people when I have workouts, practices, and games. Maybe I’ll find a hot chick and convince her to carry my weight. I’ve done it before, and I can do it again.
Noticing the guy two seats down eyeing me like his next big hunt, I stand and head in the opposite direction. He’s not going to be down with the game I’m about to play. As I walk past the upperclassman, who Professor McGill calls her assistant, I grab a handout from his hand and glance around the room.
I need to find the one … the girl who’s going to help me pass this class. It’s obvious from the way a couple blondes from across the room watch me that they know who I am. Those are the ones I avoid; they’ll just expect something I’m not willing to give them. I learned last year that there are too many girls who want to be the one who tames the wild quarterback. The only problem is, I’m not the wild guy they all think I am.

Melanie’s 5-Perfect Stars Review:

There’s something to be said about a book that could thoroughly inhabit your entire being from the very beginning until the very last word. A.L. Jackson’s follow-up, Come To Me Softly left me awestruck and dumbfounded. I was in a complete trance the entire time, drowning in her beautiful story telling so worth the wait.

In this book, we are reminded that the best and most worthy type of love are ones where people put everything on the line and have absolutely everything to lose. Jared Holt and Aly Moore come in full force– their story continually told in the most prolific of ways. Time and time again, A.L. Jackson proves just how brutal of a story teller she is– extraordinarily poignant and strikingly melodious. The pace of this entire book is laid out incredibly well, drawn out enough to keep you captivated while miraculously avoiding disinterest. My mind cannot comprehend how this author could create such heartfelt, well written books over and over again. As I’m typing this review, my head cannot contain it’s side to side movement because it’s just so unbelievable to me how naturally talented she is– honest to goodness, A.L. Jackson is as praise worthy as all of the 5-star books she has written.

Come To Me Softly is the continuation of Jared and Aly’s tumultuous love story. Now that they have finally found their way back to each other, we see their daily interactions as a couple which of course comes with a heavy dose of emotional turmoil. Jared’s character continues to struggle with the guilt he’s harbored for many years and though he bravely tries to convince Aly and Christopher that he’s OK, those demons eventually catch up to him. My heart broke ten fold for him– this beautifully broken man who so desperately wants to find peace and live an untainted happily ever after with Aly. Jared’s belief that he’s unworthy of love shattered me because I felt how resolute he was about it and how much it pained him to be loved by a lot more people than he could ever imagine.

“I’d gone without it for a lot of years. It was like this hole had been hollowed out inside me, begging for anything to fill it. Like hunger pangs when you’re starving and your body eats at your insides, searching for satiety when there’s no sustenance to be found. The idea of it’d become a vague memory, there to taunt me with what I could no longer have. Mocking me with the loneliness and desolation, reminding me I’d lost the right to be loved.”

One of the most impressive scenes in this book was the confrontation that took place between Jared and Christoper. I was blown away at how A.L. was able to capture such a testosterone filled moment between these two alphas– how she managed to keep the masculinity yet the dialogue permeated with genuine concern and emotion between them. This was a knock out, punch in the gut scene we as readers are so used to reading either between two female characters or between lovers and rarely unearthed between male characters.

” I sat back, staring up at the venom pouring from his gaze, welcoming it because I knew I had this coming.”

And of course Aly. Sweet, faithful, and unwavering. There was so much growth to her character that I was drawn to her beyond what I had expected; because quite honestly, she was already book wife material in CTMQ. Though her love for Jared remains unrelenting, she finds her voice in this follow-up. Her intuition is on point throughout this entire book and she becomes what Jared so desperately needs while at the same time, finds her own way to become the person she wants to be. Aleena Moore grew up to become a woman who held so much strength and harbored so much power that it becomes truly limitless.

“I had to be strong and fight for our family when he didn’t have the strength to do it himself. Even if that meant letting him go.”

I know from talking with A.L., she worried about this book because she had never written a book where the hero and heroine were already a couple, afraid that she couldn’t do justice to it– I am here to tell her, that she had absolutely NOTHING to stress about. This follow-up over exceeded any expectations I had. The love between Jared and Aly burst through the pages in an unforgiving gait. I quivered when they spoke of each other and to each other– the adoration was never lost and their passion could never be misinterpreted.

“The connection between us was so profound I was sure I’d been created from a tiny piece of his soul.”

A.L. Jackson is known for her gut wrenching, emotionally driven stories and she stays true to them. Many times over, the tears wouldn’t stop and my throat would become so dry from the heaving that I’d had to pause and take a swig of cold water as a way of reprieve. Jared’s story is dark and many times, despondent– this is so adequately captured that you are left with no choice but to go down that bleak road with him. And though there are many of these somber moments which this author is known for, she veers off the beaten path and gives us a more sultry side that we don’t see much of in previous books. As I was, you too will be amazed at how successful she was in conveying the physical hunger between Jared and Aly– where I had to look over at my hubby and give him the eyebrow wag. LOL. I was taken aback by these provocative parts which are still so new and unexpected from an A.L. Jackson book but added so much more depth to her characters relationship.

” My walls grasped him as I slid up and down his length, meeting his hips as he rocked into me, straining as I coaxed the need from his body.” “He just watched me, touched me. He’d been the only one who ever could.”

The journey is long and heart breaking but at the same time, joyful and full of unadulterated love. You will fall madly for every part of this riveting conclusion to Jared and Aly’s story. In one word, Come To Me Softly is perfection. A.L. Jackson should be unabashedly proud of her work and I commend her wholeheartedly. I would recommend this series to anyone and everyone.

Aleena Moore is content with her life. She has goals and dreams and an easy smile. She also has a secret she holds locked inside.

Jared doesn’t know why he’s compelled to return, but finds himself drawn back to the place where it all began. The exact place where it ended. When he runs into his childhood best friend, Aleena’s older brother Christopher, he agrees to share Christopher and Aleena’s apartment while he looks for a place of his own.

Aleena is no longer the little girl Jared remembers from his past and evokes feelings in him he never wanted to feel again. Terrified of destroying her, he fights to keep her away. But her touch is something he can’t resist—the touch that sealed his fate.

Their pasts are intertwined and their futures uncertain. The only truths they know are the secrets they whisper in the night.

Veiled Innocence by Ella Frank Book Review

Tick, tick, tock.

That’s all I have now.

A small room, a photograph, and time.

They want me to trust them and confess my sins.

They told me they wouldn’t judge me—they lied.

I thought we could convince the world that this wasn’t a crime.

We were wrong.

Time doesn’t stand still.

The clock keeps ticking, the world is unconvinced, and now…

Now he is gone.

Melanie’s 5-BIG SIZZLING star review:

Book hoarders as best known for well… hoarding books. I am guilty of it and so you could imagine the stacks that continue to pile up on my to- be- read list. And every once in a while, there are those books that I’ve let sit, collecting digital dust in my e-reader that turn out to be abso-friggin-lutely amazing. So out of this world amazing that I am still berating myself for waiting so long to read it– even more, for waiting to read it on an airplane stuck next to an older fellow, deep within the friendly skies.

Veiled Innocence by Ella Frank is the ultimate book of seduction. WOW, WOW, WOW!!! I have read many teacher/student books which I have loved but Ella has taken this one to the ultimate experience. I was incessantly squirming away in my seat, gulping down the massive amount of saliva pooling in my mouth. I confess that this had me melting into a puddle of raging hormones.

Lolita has no chance against the female protagonist of this book, Addy. She is the ultimate temptress- blindingly beautiful with a body made to be admired and a natural sensual aura that brings men to both their knees. Physically domineering but incredibly frail emotionally. Addison’s is a walking contradiction and Ella Frank does a wonderful job playing with both sides giving us a full understanding of Addy’s character. Greyson had no chance against Addy- once she had her eyes set on him, there was no turning back. The way that Addy lured him in was mouthwatering, I swear to you that you will be left with your breath hitching and your legs squeezed tightly.

And beneath all of the sensual power in this book, Ella Frank’s creativity is not to be missed. The tick tock of the clock, appears many times throughout the pages and hold such great meaning. From the first page of this book, you are held captive wanting nothing more than to find out how Addy got to where she is and the flashbacks are so well done that you don’t find yourself lost at any time. The need between Greyson and Addy though massive in the physical aspect, also goes beyond. They really do need each other, the yin to the yang. Without the other, they would continue to meander through life hopelessly broken.

The writing flowed like a smooth, glistening stream on a spring morning. Incredibly refreshing and addicting. I recommend this book to everyone and anyone and this is definitely one of my top reads this year. Amazing!

The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons Book Review & Giveaway

Amazon US Kindle:

The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights, all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur, or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler’s armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.

Yet there is light in the darkness. Tatiana meets Alexander, a brave young officer in the Red Army. Strong and self-confident, yet guarding a mysterious and troubled past, he is drawn to Tatiana—and she to him. Starvation, desperation, and fear soon grip their city during the terrible winter of the merciless German siege. Tatiana and Alexander’s impossible love threatens to tear the Metanova family apart and expose the dangerous secret Alexander so carefully protects—a secret as devastating as the war itself—as the lovers are swept up in the brutal tides that will change the world and their lives forever.

Melanie’s 5- AWESTRUCK Star Review:

Awestruck is defined in the English dictionary as an adjective which describes being filled of fear and wonder. Paullina Simons’ Bronze Horseman did exactly that for me. What is there left for me to say but that I was driven completely MAD by the epic love story of Alexander and Tatiana. The madness that infiltrated me caused such a nauseating wave which moved through me physically and emotionally. I was in disbelief at how much I LOVED, no, OBSESSIVELY LOVED this book because in all honestly, I am not much of a historical romance fan. I’ve tried a few, like the classic Dr. Zhivago and just couldn’t get myself to enjoy it. So, when I saw that this was on sale for a great deal, I gave it a go, never once expecting how it would affect me.

What I found to be so profound about this book was the focus of the horrors of war not in the eyes of Alexander the soldier, fighting in the front lines but rather, told in the eyes of Tatiana– a pure, divine, and innocent civilian fighting to live through the terror that war brings. And the story that comes straight from Tatiana’s heart is unimaginably gruesome and heart shattering.

In the middle of all the ugly comes the most epic love story I have EVER had the pleasure of reading. The instant that Alexander lays his eyes on Tatiana Metanova, he was done for and the moment that he crossed that road, onto the bus stop, their fates were sealed; not meant to ever be ripped apart. But of course, a legendary romance should not be without drama. The ones that ensue throughout this lengthy novel is not  for the weak of heart– there are MANY moments which will frustrate you to lunacy with a guarantee of being placated ten fold.

The love between Alexander and Tatiana can only be described as majestic. His mission to keep her alive by doing everything in his power to make that happen and her unfaltering and resolute faith in him is enough to catapult you right up on to cloud nine. I think I was floating on that cloud with a damn sweet smile plastered across my face during so many times. Paullina did an outstanding job writing such enticing scenes between Tatiana and her “shura” so much so that I was squirming around my seat completely satiated as they both were.

I cannot possibly explain just how much I fell in love with The Bronze Horseman. Through their discovery of each other in Leningrad, through the monstrosity of war throughout of all of the Soviet Union, through their translucent and magical love making in Lazarevo, up until their agonizing fate. Everyone should get the chance to read The Bronze Horseman. It is one thing to love a book and another to fall in love with one and I have fallen… madly.. and deeply… in love with this book.

Double Seduction Series by Randi Alexander Review of 3 books

Double Her Fantasy (Double Seduction #1)

At a comic book convention, artist Megan Shore is thrilled to meet action movie hunk Garret McGatlin. Usually reclusive, Megan flirts with the leading man of her sexual fantasies. He invites her to his suite for a drink, but when she arrives, his rancher brother Trey opens the door and unleashes Megan’s cowboy fantasy. Both men pour on the charm, and she can’t decide which of them she desires more.

The McGatlin brothers have shared women, but none of them were like Megan, irresistible and perfect for both of them. Working together, they execute a potent seduction. During a hot, amazing week, the three-way relationship becomes emotionally charged. When they’re thrown into the media spotlight, Megan fears the exposure will trigger a past threat. Garrett and Trey need to prove they can keep Megan safe as well as happy and satisfied in their arms.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author.
I must say… I’m not disappointed! This book was pretty good.
It’s the 1st in a 3 book series.
It was a fast & easy read… With plenty of hot & steamy scenes!!!

The McGatlin brother…. Oh boy….I wouldn’t mind being locked in a room with them!!!

Trey is the oldest brother. He runs the family ranch the Silver Spur in Texas. He’s the serious one.
Garret is the youngest at 29. He’s a big shot movie star with a cocky attitude.
& Megan is a 30 years old graphic arts designer. With a little secret.

Ok… I was a little worried going into this book.
Cowboys scare me!!…lol
I mean.. I can deal with a good alpha cowboy!! That’s not the problem. I can even deal with light ranch talk.
But… If it’s full on ranch talk & cows & horses…that just gets me. I can’t deal with that.
But, this book was nothing like that & I loved it!!!
The sex scenes were so hot & not over drawn.

I’m looking forward to reading the second book in the series!!

Double Her Pleasure (Double Seduction #2)

Megan Shore had spent a fantasy week in Chicago with two of the sexiest men she’d ever met. Now she’s a guest on their ranch, and the McGatlin brothers, Trey and Garret, are heating up their menage under the bright Texas sun. But when strange messages and mysterious gifts begin appearing, Megan fears the threat from her past has followed her from Canada. Trey and Garret McGatlin decided they wanted Megan for more than just that mind-blowing week in Chicago. Now that she’s with them on the Silver Spur, they’re thinking long-term. But she’s spooked by a past that won’t leave her alone and by people’s questions about their relationship. Will Megan bolt for home, or can they assure her she’s safe as well as desired in their bed?”

This book pretty much picks up where  Double Her Fantasy leaves off.
Megan is just getting off the plane with Garret. Getting ready to spend her time with both brothers.

Garret & Trey & Megan are getting to know each other better.
Trey is extremely happy to have Megan and his brother back home on the ranch.
Garret seems to be at an impasse as to what he really wants to do with his life… continue acting or help out at the ranch.
Megan is loving having her 2 guys around. She’s never been so happy.

Trey & Megan want to change things up a bit.
They want to change the rules to their arrangement.
They both want 1 on 1’s with each other. Not a 3some all the time.
That’s not sitting very well with Garret.

Megan little secret/problem followed her to Texas and is now making her life a living hell.
The brothers are doing everything they can to protect & solve Megan’s problem.

As I’m reading this book.. I keep thinking… It can’t last… One way or another she’s going to have to pick someone.
To me…
It seems like both brothers cant handle the one-on-one time that the other has with Megan.
They seem to get jealous.
Can’t help but feel that that’s going to be a big thing coming in the third book.
I can’t wait to find out what’s to come in the 3rd book. How it all plays out.

Visiting the Silver Spur ranch in western Texas, Megan Shore loves being the center of sexy Trey and Garret McGatlin’s sensual attentions. The more the brothers get to know the woman they’d met and seduced during one memorable weekend in Chicago, the more they can see her fitting into their lives long-term. But when a stalker from Megan’s past finds her, she’s tempted to run back to the polar north to hide.

As the threat escalates, Garret and Trey call on their family to help find the man intent on kidnapping Megan. When Megan’s parents start encouraging her to leave the ranch and return north with them, the McGatlin brothers need to prove that the best place for their woman is tucked tightly between their hard bodies, held safely in their arms.

These books seem to flow flawlessly one book to another.
It picks up right where it let’s off you don’t have to think and question what part your on in these books.
I loved that!!

This book had it all! The sex was mind blowing & the drama was just enough.

Megan, Trey, & Garret are loving the time spent together now that Megan is in Texas.
I was feeling a little like jealousy was going to take over the brothers & ruin their unconventional relationship.
But it all seems to work it self out.
I loved how we didn’t have a giant misunderstandings or that the drama was just to outrageous to get over. It was just enough of it all!!

There was one thing that bugged me in this book.
& it was the whole “vaginal birth control”…
I have a thing about protection… I hate to read about it. It just kills the mood. I like it to be said right away. & then forgotten. In this case… I think her being on the pill should have been good enough…& they all could have had fun without the protection. I think it would have made the sex better.

Other than that.. I loved this book!
I can’t wait for the final book in the series!! Double Her Destiny!!!
I need that book now!!

Soon Chris must choose whether to run away from his new feelings or embrace a relationship with the guy he loves. And Peter must decide if he can give his heart to a guy who hasn’t yet figured it all out.

This book was really good. I’m so glad I came across it on netgalley!!
I have to admit I have a weakness for these kinds of stories! I love a good straight guy experimenting or getting pursued by the gay guy!! It’s my weakness!!!…lol

Chris & Peter’s story was funny & awkward & endearing with some misunderstanding from not knowing how they feel about each other… First love has all kind of emotions.
But, Chris has had a lot to deal with. Coming to terms with a new set of feelings…& Coming out…it’s a lot to deal with.
The author did a good job getting that across.

I think my favorite part in this book was the porn watching scene!!!
OMG… just about killed me!!!…
I was laughing…
I loved Chris’s reaction when Peter was giving him his options of what to watch!!…lol
But after… Omgosh… It was pretty hot what they did!!!

I just liked how the whole book played out.
I will be definitely be reading Nathaniel and Greg story!!

Born into the psychedelic wonder that was the 70s, Daisy Harris has had an interesting life so far. She’s been to Catholic school and Ramones concerts; danced to MC Hammer and Lady Gaga; and been a hair’s breadth from shipwreck twice. (Three times, if you count sea kayaks!)

As far as Daisy’s concerned, the best things in life happen by accident. Though she’s gotten better at planning over the years, she still writes, lives and plays by the seat of her pants. Her books are a happy mix of romantic comedies and coming of age stories, more often than not, inspired by the great films of the 1980s.

Daisy lives in Seattle in a house full of dogs and children. When she’s not writing gay romance, she can be found experimenting with new ways to cook kale. Every once in a while, she goes out to pay homage to the party gods of her youth–and maybe to find a little trouble.

He needed a job — he never expected to need his boss.

Thomas’s life can be pared down to one principle: Be as successful as possible by being as single-minded as possible. But his commitment to his goal is tested upon returning home to his mansion and finding his gorgeous new gardener in his library.

Luke is a student, and his new job is perfect: decent income and a place to study that’s quiet, peaceful, and stocked with useful resources. The last thing he expects to find there is a stunning man who offers to open up all the doors that Luke has yet to be brave enough to peek behind.

Thomas is happy to wait for Luke to come to him, but when he does, Thomas has no intention of holding back…

This is the 1st book I’ve read by this author. I liked it.. For being a short story.. It had a lot in it.
I felt the author capture all the emotions and feelings of someone’s first time.
I like how the pace of the book went. For being a short story… It packed a pretty good punch.

I loved how Luke is care free and has a slightly cocky attitude. and he’s not easily intimidated. He’s real easy going!!

Thomas is a workaholic. Uptight and likes things only his way. He has a life’s plan. One that didn’t involve a relationship.

When Thomas met Luke… He knew there was something different about him.
When Luke met Thomas… It was attracted to him. He was slightly confused about the feelings he was having towards Thomas.
Not quite coming to terms with his sexuality yet. Luke needed a slight push. And Thomas gave him that.

I liked how the sex scenes played out! It wasn’t to much for a 1st timer. It was just right.

I loved how Luke stood up for himself when Thomas was being an ass & he didn’t take any crap from Him. He didn’t let Thomas walk all over him!!! He made Thomas work for it!!
And… I just LOVED that!!!

Everything was going good in the book until the epilogue. I didn’t love it…
I wanted something a little happier. Because if my husband did what Thomas did to Luke…
Even with the present I would still be pissed off!!…
I was still mad at Thomas to enjoy the ending.

But, other than that.. I Would recommend reading this book. It was pretty good!!

Can a young widow find love again with her husband’s reflection?

Haley’s three-year marriage to Sam, an army medic, ends tragically when he’s killed in Afghanistan. Her attempts to create a new life for herself are ambushed when she arrives home one evening—and finds her husband waiting for her. Did the military make an unimaginable mistake when they told her Sam was killed?

Too late to make things right with his estranged twin brother, Stephen discovers Sam never told Haley about him. As Haley and Stephen navigate their fragile relationship, they are inexorably drawn to each other. How can they honor the memory of a man whose death brought them together—and whose ghost could drive them apart?

Somebody Like You is a beautifully rendered, affecting novel, reminding us that while we can’t change the past, we have the choice to change the future and start anew.

This is the 1st book I’ve read by this author.  I should have did my research first.

I thought this book was ok..
Kind of misleading in a way…
I think this book is a Christian book.

It seems to be a lot on the god side. Everyone in this book is either praying or talking to God. Or throwing bible phrases around.
I don’t normally read books like this. I’m not opposed to it either…
my genre is mostly M/M, erotica, romance…& other books along those lines.
So… I kind of hate getting duped into reading something. When I thought I was going to read something totally different.

I think the author has a duty to tell the readers what exactly they’re getting themselves into when picking out a book.
The synopsis should tell the readers everything. In this books synopsis.. There is not one word of God in it. That right there… Is misleading. I try not to judge a book by its cover. But, I should have with this one.

I’ve read a lot of Amish books by Beverly Lewis.. That has a lot of god talk and Bible phrases.
But, I chose to read those book. I knew what to expect. I just hate getting blindsided.

I felt so bad for Haley when she first met Stephen.. She wanted it to be Sam so bad!!
I can’t imagine loosing my husband while be pregnant.

Haley was a little hard headed. She was kind of getting on my nerves on how she was treating Stephen.

But, I also felt… She kept asking god to help her..
Show her a sign.
Well.. There can’t be a bigger sign then Sam brother showing up on her doorstep!

Some parts were really sad… I had tears in my when Stephen had dinner at the Italian restaurant that Sam & him used to go to when they were kids.

There was one thing I didn’t like about this book. At the beginning of each paragraph. Sometimes I didn’t know who was talking. Haley could be taking Then it would switched to Stephen. I kept have to stop go back. To find out who was talking now.. That got really annoying.

Overall this book was ok..
