BOOK REVIEW: Shacking Up by Helena Hunting

33838194Ruby Scott is months behind on rent and can’t seem to land a steady job. She has one chance to turn things around with a big audition. But instead of getting her big break, she gets sick as a dog and completely bombs it in the most humiliating fashion. All thanks to a mysterious, gorgeous guy who kissed—and then coughed on—her at a party the night before.

Luckily, her best friend might have found the perfect opportunity; a job staying at the lavish penthouse apartment of hotel magnate Bancroft Mills while he’s out of town, taking care of his exotic pets. But when the newly-evicted Ruby arrives to meet her new employer, it turns out Bane is the same guy who got her sick.

Seeing his role in Ruby’s dilemma, Bane offers her a permanent job as his live-in pet sitter until she can get back on her feet. Filled with hilariously awkward encounters and enough sexual tension to heat a New York City block, Shacking Up, from NYT and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting, is sure to keep you laughing and swooning all night long.

Melanie’s 4.5 Star Review:

Yes, yes, yes!!! Shacking Up by Helena Hunting had the perfect dose of heat, romance, and laugh out loud humor to make for one heck of an addicting read. Once I got my hands on it, there was no putting it down. Today’s droopy eyes and incessant yawns are so well worth it, no doubt about it. I loved, loved the flirtatious feel from start to finish. It made me giddy and put a huge smile to my face – it all just made me feel so good.
From the very moment that Ruby and Bancroft bump into one another and accidentally land on each other’s’ mouths and tongues, the adventure only gets better and better. With the way that life has been throwing curve balls at Ruby, she didn’t expect one to actually knock her on her butt. Meeting Bancroft sets the wheels into motion, altering both their lives in the most unexpected yet the best kind imaginable. Ruby’s dream to make it big on stage, takes a disastrous turn when she bombs one audition after another leaving her homeless with a maxed out credit line. Going back to Rhode Island to become one of her dad’s pharmaceutical minions isn’t an option for her and with her bestie’s help, she lands a gig as a pet sitter for her bestie’s fiancée’s cousin. As luck would have it, Ruby finds herself pet sitting for Bancroft himself. The relationship that blossoms between them was amazeballs. Their teasing and the flirting just revved up each other’s engines and when it finally got going, they took off at 100 mph speeds. Holy wow, were the hottie tottie scenes SCORCHING flippin’ HOT!
An ex-rugby player with a name like Bancroft and a nickname like Baine, there was no way that this guy could be anything but naughty and dirty in bed. He did not disappoint. OMG you guys, I love, LOVE dirty talkers and he was the master of it. Every single moment that these two burned through the pages, they highhandedly singed every thread on my dang panties. Not only does he take very good care of Ruby under the sheets but he does so in all other aspects as well. He is protective and caring and so utterly sweet—I couldn’t handle the sighs that left my mouth.
I totally enjoyed this book. Though there were times when I just wanted to skip through certain parts to get to the ultimate prize. I just knew that once these two crashed together, the explosion would be vast and wild. And I was so on the money. Ack!!! I still can’t get over them. I guarantee that you will love this book as much as I did. Helena Hunting did such a great job with putting in every single element that I look for in a book. Shacking Up had me shackled from start to finish. This one is a surefire winner! Make sure to pick it up today.

We Like It Big Tunes:

Say You Won’t Let Go- James Arthur

I met you in the dark, you lit me up
You made me feel as though I was enough
We danced the night away, we drank too much
I held your hair back when
You were throwing up
Then you smiled over your shoulder
For a minute, I was stone-cold sober
I pulled you closer to my chest
And you asked me to stay over
I said, I already told ya
I think that you should get some rest
I knew I loved you then
But you’d never know
‘Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go
I know I needed you
But I never showed
But I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
I’ll wake you up with some breakfast in bed
I’ll bring you coffee with a kiss on your head
And I’ll take the kids to school
Wave them goodbye
And I’ll thank my lucky stars for that night
When you looked over your shoulder
For a minute, I forget that I’m older
I wanna dance with you right now
Oh, and you look as beautiful as ever
And I swear that everyday you’ll get better
You make me feel this way somehow
I’m so in love with you
And I hope you know
Darling your love is more than worth its weight in gold
We’ve come so far my dear
Look how we’ve grown
And I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
I wanna live with you
Even when we’re ghosts
‘Cause you were always there for me when I needed you most
I’m gonna love you till
My lungs give out
I promise till death we part like in our vows
So I wrote this song for you, now everybody knows
‘Cause now it’s just you and me till we’re grey and old
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
Oh, just say you won’t let go
