Synopsis:
The sizzling second installment of the White House series,
by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.
We fell in love during the campaign.
The stakes were high.
Reputations could have been ruined.
Scandal hovered over us like a cloud.
Now the man I love is the President of the United States
of America.
And its not my vote he is after.
He wants it all.
My heart. My body. My soul.
He wants me by his side.
In the White House.
Normalcy will be gone from my life, privacy forgotten.
I am only twenty three. I just wanted to play a part in
history. But it seems like history wasn’t done with me. The part where I lost
my heart to Matthew Hamilton? It was only the beginning…
unnamedI think it’s safe to say it’s a smashing hit when you’re not even halfway through the book and you’re already aching for a re-read. Katy Evans Commander In Chief was my most anticipated read of 2017 and it far surpassed what I could have dreamed for it to be. The very last page of Mr. President, book 1 in this White House series left me in an embarrassingly desperate state. There was no question about it, I NEEDED to find out what lay ahead for Matt and Charlotte like my next breath. So when Commander In Chief magically appeared on my Kindle, I just wanted to tune out everything around me and surround myself in nothing but Katy Evans words. There wasn’t any other way I would have wanted to enjoy this book but to be completely and totally immersed by everything that Ms. Evans had in store for Matt and Charlotte. Having Charlotte and Matt back felt like coming home to a big, warm hug. It felt like I had lava in my veins, just completely blanketed by the most earnest feeling of falling in love all over again.

Matt and Charlotte had me going crazy in the best possible way. Commander In Chief is commanding in its delivery. I felt every last ounce of their adoration and their love not only for one another but for the nation and its people. The power behind Matthew Hamilton’s conviction when it came to Charlotte and the nation which he’s set forth to lead had my mouth gaping in total admiration. I loved the patriotism that the author set forth in this book because it gave an even more realistic feel to the book’s setting. It would have been so easy for her to shrug it off or to sweep it under the rug and only focus on the romance between Charlotte and Matt. But the thing is, she didn’t. Instead, you truly feel her pride for American history, its traditions, and what this great nation stands for through her characters and I praise her for that.

I think that the innate, commanding persona that is Matthew Hamilton is incredibly tempting that you can’t help but be lured in. Add on to that his instinctive need to not only protect Charlotte but the entire American people from the dangers that lurk around us all makes him not just a contender but a landslide winner not only in the polls but also in the book boyfriend category. Not to come second fiddle by any means, Charlotte Waters is a heroine I would go to bat for. A modern day Jackie O in public with a sexpot sensuality that of an infamous buxom blonde in the bedroom. The perfect combination in my opinion. I love how poised and in control Charlotte was during such high pressured situations. A grade A First Lady with class and grace who carries an insurmountable amount of love for Matt. The heady chemistry between these two had me drowning in my own wanton thoughts. Their desires existing only for one another and my goodness did they burn across the pages. The thigh clenching was out of control and gone was any trace of bashfulness. You end up living vicariously through these fictional characters, almost ousting those hidden fantasies of what it would be like to bed the most powerful man in the world.

This book is the ultimate hopeless romantic’s dream come true times a million. I swear it you guys, this was melt your panties, ovaries bursting, and heart ceasingly sweet.  I continuously re-read lines over and over again to further savor every little speck of what this book had to offer. I dreaded it as the pages began to wane and I quite frankly, found myself teary eyed over the fact that this whirlwind romance that I too have seemed to find myself in was close to being over. I just wanted to keep holding on. Commander In Chief was so much more than I expected. I physically clutched on to my Kindle, hugging the hell out of it, spinning and dancing around like I was Julie Andrews on the damn hills in The Sound of Music. A perfect start to the year, this 5+ star read made beginning of 2017 even brighter. A book shelf worthy read that is sure to make you fall crazy in love.
