There’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hennington.
He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick-up lines all to himself. I made the mistake of sleeping with him not once, but twice. I’m not stupid enough to give him round three, especially after he left me in the middle of the night so I could see myself out. I vow to return to Philadelphia and forget him.
It proves easier said than done.
When the doctor informs me I’m the winner of door prize number two, I put my life on hold and head back to Bell Buckle. Three months and if we can’t make this work, I’m gone.
The problem is—when the cards are stacked against us, and I can’t bring myself to leave him, I’ll finally know if he truly loves me or if all my fears were real . . .
A fast paced read filled with so much sweetness, it’s impossible not to feel like you’re falling in love right alongside the characters too. Say You’ll Stay is one of my most favorite reads of the year—I absolutely LOVED it. Presley and Zach’s second chance love story had me from the very beginning. So I had quite a big expectation with this follow-up. In Say You Want Me, I felt like one would feel as they find themselves in a new relationship. Weary in the beginning, leading into a wonderful crescendo during the bulk of the book, to finally end up lost in the feeling of being totally in love.
I thought that Corinne Michaels went full force from the every start of Wyatt and Angie’s story, laying out exactly where both characters stood. This author honestly, has some special gift when it comes to her male protagonists. Book after book, she manages to create an even more swoony book boyfriend and really, it’s not fair when you realize that you’re in love with a fictional character. Wyatt Hennington, ooooooohhh weeeeeee! With his cowboy swagger in check, he drives not only Southern Bells in the bible belt crazy, but also Big City girls like Angie. Everything about Wyatt screams husband material even though he’s dubbed as the town’s elusive playboy. His determination to make Angie fall in love with him is nothing short of unyielding persistence. And with Angie’s hardened, almost defiant disposition, Wyatt sets himself up on some sort of mission to bring her walls down. Though I loved that Wyatt put himself out there so brusquely, without the fear of being turned down, I didn’t quite understand why he had such strong feelings for Angie. I felt like I was missing something and wish that I’d somehow had a look into their first time together—what did he see in Angie then that he’d never found in anyone else? Like Angie, it also took me some time to get used to the idea of Wyatt’s feelings toward her.
While so many reviews that have come out have been praising Wyatt Hennington like crazy (though he is so, so delicious), Say You Want Me was all about Angie for me. I loved her character. Frankly, I loved everything about her. I understood exactly where she was coming from and I couldn’t help but sympathize with her time and time again. Ms. Michaels did such a great job with her character’s progression—from a Big City girl with a hardness about her to a country girl who has a softness behind her eyes.
Say You Want Me comes with an emotional punch to the gut when you least expect it but trust when I say that Corinne Michaels soothes the hurt so nicely. As with all the other reviewers out there, I 100% totally agree that you should go into this book blind because the impact will be that much better. I enjoyed this book and I know that many of you will too.
