Status Update (#gaymers, #1) By Annabeth Albert Review

Status Update (#gaymers #1)

Adrian Gottlieb is winning at life. He’s a successful video game designer with everything a man could ask for, including a warm comfy ride to Denver and a date for his sister’s wedding. But he finds himself in need of a total reboot when he’s left stranded at a snowy campground in Utah. Holiday plans? Epic fail.

That is until Noah Walters offers him shelter for the night and a reluctant cross-country ride. Nothing about the ultraconservative geoarchaeologist should attract Adrian, but once he discovers Noah’s hidden love for video games, the two connect on a new level. Soon, a quiet but undeniable chemistry sparks.

Something doesn’t add up, though. As the miles accumulate and time runs out, Noah must face the most difficult choice of his life. Meanwhile, Adrian must decide whether he’s ready to level up. Is their relationship status worth fighting for, or has this game ended before it’s even begun?

I’m so glad I came across this book on Netgalley. It was a cute little quick read…. That packed a big punch.
Noah & Adrian went through a lot in such a short time. Neither of them knew what hit them.

Adrian is going home to attend his sister’s wedding. He’s also taking a guy he met online. He thought they could do the whole cross country thing together while getting to know each other better.
Big mistake!
He ends up stranded in the middle of nowhere with just his little dog and no shoes!

He lives a super private life…. He doesn’t really like to talk to people. He likes to stay to himself.
He never wanted to face what he has always know about himself. And that is… he’s gay.
He’s lived in the closet for so many years. Staying away from people that care about him. Just keep his secret.
So when Adrian literally landed on his doorstep. He had to really work hard to keep himself from wanting things he knew he couldn’t have.
(Well… In his mind he thought he couldn’t have.)

I loved how Adrian was so carefree and really worked to bring down Noah’s wall. He really made Noah see that he can truly have it all. And I loved how Noah really showed and proved to Adrian that he really wanted him.

one thing I wasn’t expecting was all the god talk going on in this book. It kind of put me off a little bit. I just thought it was a bit too much.
Other than that I thought this book was a good start to what seems like the beginning of a series.
I can’t wait to read the next book this series!
