For years, Alyssa has been going to bed with a memory. Is she ready to wake up with a fantasy?
Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mate, but not Alyssa Barrow. She met Rob at nineteen, and they were set to live happily ever after—until he became ill. In his final days, Rob urged his beautiful, young wife not to abandon happiness—or pleasure. He even left her a special gift, a sexy game plan to help her move on: Thirty cards with instructions for thirty days of passion. You’ll know when the time is right, he’d said. Now it’s two years later, and when Alyssa meets her hot new neighbor, Harrison Kemp, she begins to think the right time is right now…
From his sculpted thighs to his devilish grin, Harrison is the kind of man women want. Before she can lose her nerve, Alyssa tells Harrison about her long-ignored cards…and asks him to help her fulfill them. It’s a favor he’s more than happy to, um, perform. With his skillful touch, and the hot press of his lips against her skin, Alyssa finds herself re-awakening to life—and a host of other sensations. But what began as not-so-innocent fun soon grows into true intimacy, and Alyssa realizes she’s opening herself up not just to sex…but to love. When it comes to a future with Harrison, what’s really in the cards?
Saucy, heartwarming, and insightful, 30 Days explores the agony—and the ecstasy—of starting over, and how a little encouragement, and a little courage, can go a long way…
Melanie’s 4.5 Star Review:
There’s something to be said about a book when I can blaze right through it in mere hours. It means, it was pretty dang good. So good that I was left feeling all sorts of giddy even after the last page. 30 days by Christine d’Abo was laugh out loud witty and crazy sexy hot. The synopsis alone had me dancing on my tippy toes—dubbed as “The Erotic Version of P.S. I Love You” I knew that I’d find something wonderful in its pages.
I loved the concept of this book and the stage in which the author chose to write about in the heroine’s life. Alyssa a 35 year old widow who’d only ever been with her deceased husband, finds herself struggling with going through a sort of bucket list full of sexual fantasies thought of by her very own dead husband, Rob. 30 cards to help Alyssa discover her sensuality with one catch—do not fall in love. The adventures that ensue from these cards are wholly entertaining and many times, downright hot as hell. From the very first card, the laughter that bubbled out of me was so loud that my 4.5 year old son gave me a strange look and asked me what was so funny—oh sweet boy if you only knew the cause. LOL. And one of the very best part of this book?? Well, Harrison of course! He is Alyssa’s next door neighbor whose hard rock abs and looks are enough to melt blocks of ice. Totally game to help Alyssa out with her bucket list of fun, he makes it known from the very start that he’s not interested in any sort of relationship other than the sexual one they’ve decided to embark on together. The interaction between Harrison and Alyssa were both sweet and sexy. I found myself smiling and the next flush from their heated exchange. As expected, things go a bit off course once feelings; though ones both try to dismiss, become mixed up with their “no strings attached” agreement. This is when the real fun begins and trust me, the little bit of angst adds just the right balance to this charming read.
I am so happy to have picked up this book because I really, really enjoyed this book so much. It was the perfect weekend read one which has taught me to possibly give grapefruits and pirates a chance (LOL). I loved how their story began and how it all unfolded into something so much more than just the straightforward 30 days worth of cards. Heartwarming and sexy, 30 days will be sure to keep you entertained from the very first to the very last pages.
