Dimpled smile of a boy

Hard body of a man

Sings like an angel

Fucks like the devil

I was stuck between a rock(star) and a hard place.

At fifteen, his poster hung on my bedroom wall.  At twenty-five his body hovered over mine.  Every girl’s fantasy became my reality.  I was dating a rockstar.  Yet I was slowly falling for another man.  The problem was—the two men—they shared a tour bus.

Flynn Beckham was the opening act.

Dylan Ryder was the headliner.

What happens when the opening act begins to shine so bright, it seems to dim everything else in its wake?

I’ll tell you what happens.  Things get ugly.

Melanie’s 5-SWOONY Stars Review:

Beat definitely had my heart beating enough for those satisfying endorphins to kick in. Ladies, I fell in love while reading this book. Not only with Flynn Beckham but with every single aspect of this book. What I’ve realized about Vi Keeland is this; she has a flawless knack of catapulting her readers right on top of cloud 9. Her stories and the characters draw you in such an easy, seamless way; it’s a natural pull that no one could resist. She did it to me in Throb and my goodness, did she do it for me again in Beat.

If you were lucky enough to have read Throb, then you got a little taste of Flynn in that book. I swear, I knew this guy was sweet as honey even with from that little bit of taste I had but man did he far exceed my expectations. I wanted to ladle up boundless of gallons of him. A hot musician with a heart of gold and mouth that would make you lose your mind amongst other things. I loved him. Plain and simple I fell madly and deeply head over heels in love with him. A definite book husband in my eyes he had all the qualities to make your knees grow weak and have you embarrassingly wish that his strong arms could wrap around you and pick you right off the ground. There were countless scenes that had me seeing hearts, ovaries bursting like birthday piñatas. Trust me, Flynn Beckham will win you over and over and over and over again and each time you’ll be screaming for more.

Not only did Vi Keeland hit the mark with her hero in this book but she did it with her heroine too. Lucky Valentine (how friggin’ awesome is that name?!) was a perfect match for such a strong male lead. They complimented one another to a tee; no false steps to have you second guessing if she was ever good enough for the delicious Flynn. I loved that she was vulnerable without looking weak. She was independent, always wanting to work for what she had and bravely working to get past her fears.

The relationship that blossoms between Flynn and Lucky is so intensely sweet I was smitten at a maximum velocity. I couldn’t get enough of their interaction because it was just so flawlessly well done. They will make you giddy it’ll take you back to your old grade school days and they’ll make your temperature rise enough to melt. I will warn you that there’s also quite a bit stomach churning angst between these two. But I thought that the angst factor was well balance, not enough for you to be put off by what was brewing between them but just enough to make you realize just how badly you wanted to see them be together. A harmonious culmination of that push and pull element that a literary masochist like myself appreciates.

This was a superbly entertaining romance that had me smiling and melting in every which way possible. Perfectly paced and really well written, you will find yourself unable to put down this book for even a few minutes. I can’t wait to see what else Vi Keeland has in store because I am completely hooked.

Despite the fact that Lucky had just casually mentioned that the lobby lounge serves coffee beginning at six a.m., I’m pretty sure of myself that she’ll be down there.  But when I step off the elevator, the lobby is quiet.  Empty.  The coffee urns are just being set up in the lounge.  I pour two mugs, make them just as we like it, and settle on one of the couches on the far side of the room where it’s private, yet I can still keep an eye on the door.

I grab a newspaper and begin to flip through to kill time.  Then my eyes catch a pair of pink-painted toes in flip-flops.  I don’t know why, but it’s in this moment that I realize, I’m fucked.

The sight of her toes makes me smile.

I’m falling for another guy’s girl.  Something I promised myself I’d never do.

But then I reason with myself.  I haven’t done anything wrong.  Thinking a woman is beautiful and spending time with her doesn’t have to turn into anything, right?  They’re just toes after all.  But look how cute they are.  I’ve never been a foot guy, yet I wouldn’t mind sucking…  Stop.  Just stop.  We’re just friends.

Because I’ve been friends with so many hot women in the past and not fucked them?  Yep.  I’m screwed.  I need to get the hell out of here.

“Good morning,” she whispers and smiles down at me.  My eyes lazily travel up from her toes.

I’m totally not going anywhere.

I hold up her mug of coffee.  And then I realize she still has the thin shirt she wears to sleep on and I’m eye-level with the sexiest taut nipples I’ve ever seen.

Screw sucking her toes… “Certainly is.”  I grin.

About the Author:

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn’t change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work.  She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!
