Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after.

He wasn’t even on my radar.

He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden.

But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam.

One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.

Melanie’s 5-STELLAR Stars Review:

Ok, folks. My Corinne Michaels cherry has just been popped and what a fantastic experience it was!!! Frankly, there were two factors that made me pick up Consolation—the breathtaking cover and the amazing praises I have heard about the author.  I am beyond thrilled to have taken the chance because I inhaled this book in its entirety within a few hours. There really was no stopping me from finishing up this book cover to cover because everything about it just sucked me in. Consolation was a reckless tornado and I was in the eye of it.

The characters are a reader’s dream come true. What Corinne did with her characters was magic—each one of them had such chemistry with one another and what blew me away was that it went far beyond just the male and female protagonists. You could really feel the love and the connection even between the secondary characters in this book.

Natalie or Lee as her loved ones refer to her is bar none one of the best heroines I have had the pleasure of reading about. Her vulnerability and strength combined made her so realistic and so easy to love. What I admired most about her was how true she stayed to herself, never once allowing herself to be pushed into something she didn’t want and better yet, she allowed herself to move forward amidst the blinding guilt that continued to haunt her. I thought that the author did a sensational job writing such a seamless progression of Natalie’s grief. It was the perfect illustration of the proverbial rainbow after the rain has gone—I could see as her life started to piece back together even during the heaviest time in her life with the help of such a strong support system; all starting with Liam coming back into her life. This guy, OMG, this guy is absolute PERFECTION! Everything…. Every single thing he did and said made me tingle all over and my heart swelled dangerously close to exploding. Sweet as maple syrup, Liam comes barreling into Natalie’s life not expecting to be the person that would not only heal her, but love her beyond what she could have ever imagined. Their relationship is so unlike many of the books out there—it was neither lust at first sight nor love at first sight. They had a friendship long before any romantic feelings became involved. Again, the progression between the two of them, as seamless as Natalie’s character. I was just so impressed by how the author was able to deliver it time and time again.

Another huge highlight for me was the friendship between Natalie and Rea. This sort of friendship, though it is written in a book really exists. They are the ying and the yang; the kind that would withstand any tragedy and the sort that only becomes stronger during a tragedy. I loved that they could become both giggly girls with one another, taking a joyride in life and all at the same time, become an anchor for one another during a heaving storm. The perfect balance that created such a beautiful harmony.

Not only were the characters sensational, but the dialogue they had with one another had me feeling so many different emotions all at one time. A full proof mix of witty and funny that had me laughing out loud even with such an emotional and heavy storyline. This book had everything I could have possibly asked for. Not only will Consolation leave you giggling, swooning, crying, and deliciously clenching throughout Natalie and Liam’s love story but it will have you leaping out of your seat on to your feet needing answers, needing more. I cannot friggin’ wait for the second installment of this duet series and I am counting down the days. This is a must, must read.
